UR-ANUS haha
why spend money on them....

when you start comp go to dos and get a drive letter like so:

C:

type so it looks like this..

C:format C: /s

this should go fine it'll ask are you sure...say yes or type "Y" enter.

it should start format and finish in like 10-15 mins then ask you to put a volume label of 11 characters or less. Just press enter don't label.

now your done. restart comp and get your new OS going.

It takes like an hour to do, (reinstalling windows included) so do it yourself. Tell me what OS you have and I'll try to help.

If you use windows 98 take it in unless you have all your driver disks. If you use windows xp do it yourself do to it has all the most common video sound ethernet drivers with it so yes. Because you're a moron and you'd screw up

Don't forget to D:setup when you're done.

They'd charge you probably 40 bucks waste of money.

l33t bunny master, Hitsua, watch the flaming.

Back up all your files and download all your drivers first before burning to a CD, and yes, correct partition.

Windows 98 will be a lot different than XP for a beginner. Since he hasn't posted does this mean he took it in and doesn't have a computer to post from? Or doesn't have the time. Your hard drive is most likely C: , just check before you start.

RT, do it yourself, it aint hard.
How to backup stuff:
1) either burn all your stuff on disks

or

2) get norton ghost and make an image of your hard-drive (you'll need to hard-drives for this)

(or if you're like me you won't need to cause you already run a raid setup that copies everything onto 2 drives :) )

How to format (you'll want a disk with the operating system you want BEFORE you do this, else you'll be stuck with command prompts, reformating basically erases everything on your drive):

1) Make a boot disk that can boot into dos (if you're on an operating system that won't let you boot straight into dos).

2) Reboot into dos, If you want to do things with your partitions, type 'fdisk'. Everything in there's self-explanatory. I wouldn't mess with fdisk if you're entirely new to this stuff. Alternatively, get partition-magic, its much nicer than fdisk.

3) Like everyone else has said, type "format (whatever drive you want to format)"

4) Wait (how long really depends on the size of your drive).

5) reboot and install whatever operating system you want

Things to consider beforehand: what format do you want your drive in? fat32? ntfs? (beware, format into ntfs, and you won't be able to change back to fat32)

Why are you formatting your computer anyways?
