Help a noob

Hi all

I just started playing Diablo 2, and would just like to ask a question about 1.10 -- When you create a char, it asks if is should be a ladder char. What is that and what is the difference on plain expansion and ladder - should i play ladder to get some of the new items that have been added in 1.10 or can i find them as a plain expansion char also.

The difference between ladder and non-ladder is like the difference between hardcore and softcore. You cant transfer items between the two, the characters are separate. But ladder has some ladder-only items, thats about it. Oh yea, values of items are MUCH different in ladder and non. I'd suggest, being new, starting on non ladder.

The main purpose for the ladder is that it keeps the economy clean, or rather attempts to. What I mean by that is that everytime a new patch comes out people always figure out a way to dupe or pass bugged items, which completly ruines the game in some cases.

At the end of the ladder season every character becomes a normal character and it does not give hackers the chance to dwell on getting Suxx0r items in. Stick to ladder....you will feel much better.

theres not much difference really except non ladder is more stupid as its full of bugged stuff and non legit items......

if u wanna play legit, goto ladder

Acctually, ladder is better for newer players, since people havent had since 07 to amass their item caches

yea the new ladder season will start soon and i think it was made to make noobs go up in rank by finding a soj they were rich but in non ladder u were called a noob if u had one lol

That happens in ladder and non-ladder. I remeber when I started getting decent items like Skulders, sojs, eldritch, shaftstop....I was like "WOW!" everyone else was like......."That stuff sucks, NEWB!"

I remember back in 1.08, on East a single SoJ could buy multiples of almost anything... until 1.09 hit, and SoJs were being sold by Charsi and Akara in multiples.... They lined the streets of Harrogath... Ah, good times.
