Ok, i was at a gaming cafe with a friend right, and we decided to 1v1 each other on WC3 RoC. Now, we are both uber newbs, so we really had no idea how good anything was (I've only ever played the campaigns, up to the Night Elf one).

He chose Orcs. I would've chosen them because they are just tough and sound cool, but i decided not to mirror him and go with Night Elves (Just to mix it up, and i hate the Undead and Humans are boring).

The game was rather stagnant and i expoed a bit more than him and i had just a bit more units than he did. But then i attacked the middle area that had neutral enemies in there (A bunch of Ogres that stood between me and my friends base), i killed them fairly easily, and then my friend marches in with his whole army, consisting of about 7 Grunts, 2 Catapults, 1 Kodo Beast, 2-3 Raiders, 1 Far Seer Hero and 4-5 Troll Headhunters.

I almost panicked because it was unexpected and Night Elves are rather weak in HP and attack. I had mainly Archers, 2 Ballistae, 1 Demon Hunter Hero and some Huntresses, and i got owned...big time.

When he finally made it to my base, i uprooted my buildings and decided to kick some ass, but then they died. Then i died. Then my friend laughed :(

As Night Elves, what could i have used to defeat an army of such calibre? Would Druids of the Claw have worked? I only recently found out about their Bear form, it kicks ass :D

In RoC sir, NE = most uberly riggzzored Race in my opinion

Mass:
-Demon hunter (1st hero)
-At least 5 wisps on wood
-Huntresses (two Ancients of War)
-UPGRADE!!! =)
-When you go to tier 2 (or upgrade to tree of ages) make 2 Ancients of Lore, and Keeper of the Grove whenver if you have enough money
-Mass Dyrads, and upgrade Druid of Claw training, and after making around4~6 dyrads, make 2 Druids (they can use rejuvation, use it on your Demonhunter)

and constantly creep (killing neutral units) you get uber gold out of them in RoC, and you can lvl up to 10 in RoC, and get uber items :D and Night elf has advantage in this, because of Demon hunter + Huntress.

As Demonhunter, try going like this:
Manaburn/evasion till lvl 6 and learn metamorphosis, if you do learn metamorphosis, it pretty much promises you winning game.

or how about you just mass huntress and rush
Heh that is one option :p yea thats what you should probly do in most games, just mass dyrads and huntress with few talons later when it all fails.

In that game, you basically lost because he had a better unit mix, and one pretty much tailored to DESTROY night elf. When I play night elf (not often) and face an orc, I make 3-4 huntresses, then switch to archer/ talons/ dryads. Cookie cutter, I know, but orc is tough to beat with elf. Possibly 1-2 Druid of claw for roar and rejuvination. For hero choice, either Warden or DH is good. With the way solo heros gain bonus experience based on tech level, I would stick with a single hero now, because either heros ultimate will really own orc if you are able to achieve level 6 early enough.

Nope, Better ways for orc to pwn NE in RoC would be going air + shamens with few grunts I think.

And its RoC not TFT blud :p

You had too much unarmored and the Trolls/Catapults capitalized off it. What you should do is creepjack him while he fights the ogres. You can focus fire on his grunts and hopefully do some real damage. Or let him attack you, then attack him from behind where the ranged units are, sometimes placement of units and AoA can be your edge.

Little something before you say too much unarmored:

Huntress = Medium armor in RoC (xtra dmg from magic attacks)
Archer = Light armor in RoC (xtra dmg from normal)
Balistaes = Heavy/Medium, cant remember

Druid/Bears = Heavy armor (xtra dmg from piercing, and MAYBE magic, no idea)

Should I say again, archers suck in RoC, dont waste your gold making them :( Go huntress!

Oh, thought it was Frozen Throne

Huntress - Medium Armor, changed to Unarmored in FT for balance reasons
Archer - Light Armor, Piercing beats Heavy but slaughtered by Normal
Balista - Medium Armor, Seige beats fortified and unarmored, but slaughtered by Magic.
