What is the difference between resolutions? What does 780 and 1080 mean?

I am saving up slowwly for a 32 ince HD tv... I just want to be able to lay on the floor or the bed and get headshots as if I was sitting close to my present peice of shit TV

both have "1366 x 768 pixel resolution for stunning image clarity" expect the first has 1366 x 768 pixel resolution with built-in image scaler..

Honestly the sales of HD TVs is almost as bad as medical jargen that no one can understand.

Can anyone who knows about this stuff tell me the difference in terms I can understand about the different other than "built-in image scaler" , but if that is the thing that makes the first more expensive can someone explain why its worth 200.,

720 vs 1080 = more pixels. Higher = better. 1080i is what you want for an xbox, not 1080p.

1080i is the vertical reso...1080 is the highest quality that you can get on HDTV...at least i think and i means interlaces, and p means progressive...and they are basically different means of how the picture refreshes....i dont know what the built in image scaler is but...google it

Lastly, don't worry about the actual resolution of the TV; instead, consider what type of digital signals it can display. The Xbox only supports a few resolutions but try to find a TV that can do 720p. Yes, 1080i is a higher resolution but it can only do 30 frames a second, while 720p displays 60 frames a second. Therefore, even though it has fewer lines of resolution, 720p produces a smoother picture so it's a better way to display fast moving objects.....

Is there such thing as 720P vs 1080i?

I mean if my peice of shit tv from the late 80s and early 90s makes gears looks good does any of this really matter? I do what to me amazed every time i sit down and grab a brew to get some gaming in... which is not as much as i would enjoy these days.

The Xbox sit also states that a 32 inch samsung is best for mid range... I think that would fall into the first link... would that be best for my 360?

"To compare 1080i and 1080p it is important to compare framerates. Due to interlacing, 1080i has twice the frame-rate but half the resolution of a 1080p signal using the same bandwidth. This is especially useful in sports shows and other shows with fast-moving action. However, on some flat screens that don't support interlacing, this instead becomes smeared or jarred artifacts."

It must be nice to not have to pay alot of bills...

So you would suggest a 32ince 720vs 1080i... and not the 1080p?

Plus having one or the other has nothing to do with connection (ingame) lag. Basically there can't really be a thing as a bad HD TV unless you buy it off a truck coming for mehheco.

Buy the most expensive one you can. Then get yourself a completely new home surround sound experience center so you can play HALO 3 and be the coolest ****ing mother****er on the mother****ing block.

Anything over 60 isn't really needed imo. Though I did just buy my dad a ~120inch projection screen / projector for his theater room. Cost me a good chunk of change, but his face was worth it.

I mean shit, I have this computer (brand new, just finished getting all my drawing and music things on it) running on a 40inch flatscreen tv with a bose surround system hooked up to it.

Wow...sounds pretty damn awesome. I've always wanted a big screen for playing computer games...but I'm guessing that's probably not what you use yours for. Still, that's pretty cool.

And omg, our 70 inch TV is enormous...I can't imagine a 120...that's like, just under double the size...(yes I know 20 wholes inches under double, but close enough.)

Playing Soul Calibur 3 on the 70 inch screen is unbelievable. The characters are the size of live children.

Even more impressive is playing God of War 2 on it...it's a game that can only be described as being on an "epic" scale, and holy shit does it just pull you into it and make you feel small...
