Hamster!!

or...

Gerbil!!

Which one would you rather have as a pet?

I would pick a hamster because they are easier to take care of. I used to have seven gerbils at one time, and they can be overwhelming. They like to jump and a whole lot of other stuff. However, hamsters like to sleep and store food in their cheeks.

Which one can be used for sexual pleasure? Anyways, that one. I see no other point to having a rodent as a pet other then it crawling around in someones ass or doing whatever else it could possibly do to get -said person- off.

Watching something slowly die while eating nuts and being useless is not all that awesome, IMO. (I've had one. It sucked.)

No offence to anyone, of course.

Well, going from my personal experience (not about the sexual pleasure thing, of course) I wanted a gerbil because my mice died, and I wanted something else to love. They are cute because you can hold them in your hand, even though they really don't do anything. It's just something to take care of and love. That sounds gay I suppose, but it's the same concept with any pet.:croc:

Not exactlly true. Dogs can be used for real protection, be it through warning (Barking) or actual defence. (Kicking the things ass)

Cats can be used to kill rodents / other pests in your home. I suppose dogs could as well; but cats have a rep for eating rats and whatever.

Other pets, like birds / snakes / any rodent / other small critters are pretty much uesless. I know people like to have something to love and take care of, but this thread was which would "you" rather have, and I would want something that I could get the most use out of. Even if the "use" was crawling in my ass or however the Hell people use rodents to get off with. Better then sleeping / eating all damn day.

Earn those nuts? **** yeah.

Gerbils are smaller. They are like mice with no tails. Hamsters get fat and stuff.

My boyfriend has a red-tailed boa constricter. I'd like to see a dog/cat stand up to it.

Some people are allergic to cats and dogs. They might also not be able to have cats or dogs where they live. Hamsters and other rodents are small and can easily live in a little cage in your room. They do not require a lot of attention like a cat or a dog either.

We'll yes, I suppose a badass snake could destroy your average dog / cat. Then again if you get a tiger / lion / wolf as a pet I'm sure that would destroy your badass snake. Then again taking care of that deadly of a pet would be way to difficult and dangerous. Your right in a one on one fight, but I'm not sure how useful of a guard-snake it would be unless you threw the bitch at the thing. Scary as shit, no doubt.

Both come with ups and downs. Equalish.

And yeah, I am allergic to dogs myself, so I know where you are comming from. But just because I am allergic to a dog does not mean I want to have a waste-of-money running around in a plastic ball on my floor with it's cheeks puffed out from my seeds while shitting everywhere.

I guess if you really want something to love without the option of a better pet you would be happy with a small rat of a pet. But honestly, why not just take the time / resorces, as I said a little bit ago, and use it to fill the void in your life through a more useful means?

****, well, if you were REALLY ****ing old I guess it would be impossible to do so. Or crippled or whatever.

It is all situational! Yes. Without question.

Sounds like gerbils are just baby hamsters. Science is stupid.

Damn. You're awesome.

Anyways. It's not a waste of money because people do enjoy having them as a pet. It may be a waste of your money, but other people love having little critters to play with and love. They may spend hours loving their little friend. They are getting exactly what they want. It's a source of entertainment. Your hamster would always be the if you're feeling alone, just like any other pet. Sometimes a little hamster can fill a big void better than other things. :O

I suppose so. But as I said, it should be all situation. Like, if you are taking the pet and just using it as an escape (Like I'm one to talk, bad habit of abuse of things, besides the point.) of reality it serves no purpose other then a crutch.

But yes, for the people that get a real feeling of reward from it, you are right. My cousin is this type of a person. Very animal friendly and what-not.

I'm all for people doing anything, and I mean ANYTHING besides hurting other people or living creatures, they want inorder to get the most they can out of life. It's just I hate when people don't admit that it is what it is- a crutch.

Alchoholic? That's fine, IMO. Just say you are one. Need an animal to not feel crushing depression? Fine. Just state it like it is.

lol, I've really blown this out of porportion. Whatever, I like talking to people like you. Not many of them in my RL besides for a few people.

Someone like me? Thanks for the compliment.

I like animals. Gerbils and hamsters are cute animals. I'm planning on getting a hamster soon too. The thing about hamsters are that you can buy a bunch of tubing and stuff, and you can customize it any way you want. I don't know if I would go that far, but there are a lot of hamster lovers out there. :D

Haha, I mean someone who likes to debate about shit and not get all worked-up over stupid things. Thats the reason I like talking on the net. It's not personal and it opens your mind up to different viewpoints without reprocussions. (Not about stupid shit like this, but about real issues in the world.)

And yeah, those tubes are ****ing awesome. One of the main reason I got a hampster in the first place. Not that the pos used them.

Hampster? :p

I would never get tubes since they exponentially increase the chance of the hamster's escape, but a ball is alright.

I would keep an eye out because there are people here that like to fight all the time and don't care what it is about. :)
