Hammerdin Guide?

I am considering about starting a new Hammerdin on Ladder, because he, if maxed skills, can actually kill shit.

What would you suggest for some good low level (under 60 or so) gear that's not too hard to find?

I was thinking something along the lines of:

Heaven's Light (found it, its +3 all which will help a crapload)
Peasent Crown (assuming I can get one from Inept)
Eye of Elitch
SoJ (I found one, and if I don't trade it, it'll go on this guy)
Ravenfrost (assuming I find another before I start this character)
Shaft (Assuming Inept will let me use his)
Magefists (Wow, I really need to start Norm Baaling with 300 mf ><)
Silkweaves or Waterwalks?
Gloom's Trap?
Herald of Zakarum

How good would a Hammerdin be with that gear? Would he be able to survive NM Baal runs easy? Comments? Suggestions are always welcome.

If not, what do I max after I ahve BH/Vigor/Concentration Maxed? Should I get like 10 pts into Holy Shield and 1 into Salvation? Would that be good to do?

Waterwalks > Silkweaves

Vipermagi > Shaft


Remember that the only problem in low levels will be the low mana, but when you have decent gear and go in hell you should have a decent amount of mana, so use Ww and viper. They are better. Faster cast is very good, and so are the resists from viper. And the mods of Ww are better than Silks' ones.

Remember another thing; you should try to have at least 75% fast cast, which is a nice amount. If you don't reach the bp, remember that low-cost weapons like Suicide branch (or Wizzy if you need resists) have the necessary fcr to go on.

Yea, but I don't know exactly considering you're almost never on! Now its time to baal a few times before these staples come out later today! I'm so pumped.

Those items are a good start. One of the best items on a fresh ladder for a hammerdin is going to be a wizardspike. Its got resists, and cr, which will really help out when you don't have many items, plus, they're easy to drop, and even if you can't, they're cheap to buy. I'm definately in agreement with djnat on the vipermagi, it will aid you quite a bit, especially getting through acts 3 and 4, not to mention baal runs. As for points, concerning salvation......no. 20 to BH, 20 to conc, 20 to vigor, 20 to BA, 20 to shield, the rest into prereqs and defiance(shield syn). In that order.

20 to shield? Uhhh... seems too excessive to me.

Anyhow, 20 BH, 20 CONC, 20 VIGOR, 20 BA = 80 points.

This char will probably get around 80 or so, so I don't expect to pull another 10 points out of my ass without doing the skill quests.
