I just got the first HALO like 3 days ago. Anyway, I have a few questions about the game. No, I have not completed the game, but 2 missions to go!

Anyway, after I got the Index and was back into the HALO control room. All things were explained (sort-of)

Okay, the Ball-Tongue thing lied (or, didn't tell me everything) but my sexy-lady friend said a lot of shit.

1st: IS HALO good or bad?

2nd: I thought HALO was PROTECTING the universe? Why blow it up?

3rd: Activating the defense...wouldn't that be a good thing? I mean, wouldn't that destory the Flood?

4th: Can someone explain this again to me. lol

Thanks

The flood were meant to exterminate all of the things on halo. If you watch the little clips you would hear them saying "Yes, but the flood were meant as a way to exterminate all living on the planet." So the thing they thought would destroy the halo by blowing it up really just destroys it by destroying everything by eating it or w/e they do.

Um...okay.

I think the Flood can escape Halo, thus being a menace to the universe. e.g. the Zerg.
Okay, so Halo blows up and kills the Flood's food. I would think it would also kill the Flood. Maybe it doens't "blow" up...interesting.

Ech, ech, ech. OK, I've beat both games and read all 3 books. Let me explain. The Flood are parasites. They, I think, were used as a weapon. So anyways, apparently, the only way to destroy the Flood is to starve them to death. The Covies found the flood and were afraid of it. Halo, sends a super mega laser bean ray thingy that kills all organic life withing a 20,000 light year radius. No organic life, no food for Flood. Anyways, the moniter is thousands of years old. His job is to make sure the Flood dont escape. So he wants to activate Halo, therefore stopping the Flood. The reason MC and Cortana wanna blow up Halo is because if it was activated, Earth would be wiped out, along with the last few surviving Inner Colonies of humans, if the Covies didnt kill them all. If you didn't know, it's the year 2552 and MC is a part of a squad. SPARTANS. The government kidnapped some kiddes and trained them all their life and augmented them with super strong bones etc. So how the CHief gets to Halo is that the Pillar of Autumn, Commanded by Captian Jacob Keyes, Is retreatring from the Covies. They slip-space jump on a random vector and fight themselves near Halo.
If you really want to know more, you should buy/borrow the novels. I'm 11 and I read em. THEYRE AWESOME.

Peace

Troik, I didn't just beat the game, I beat both games and read all three books. Now, I don't know the story completely. Bungie lets lots of things to guess. But most of what I said is true.
And Troik, what do you know about the story? Tell me if you know the story so good.

Wow your 11 and read those novels. Pretty big words in em(I read them as well). Nice. Although, I have to make one, slight correction. Halo was/is designed to destroy all sentient life. Almost the same as organic, but there are a few distinct differences.

basically, except for the fact that the Forerunners CREATED the Flood in a freak experiment, the reason they created Halo was for a last, desperate attempt to destroy them. They also created the Monitors to ensure that the Reclaimer would know what to do. The Covenant found Halo, and attempted to use it (at least in halo2) because the Prophets claim that if Halo was activated, all Covenant would be take to a paradise (The Great Journey). When you meet Gravemind, he tells you that 343 Guilty Spark’s containment and the Prophet’s Great Journey are one and the same. So basically, the Heretics were "right" all along...P.S. 343 is OBSESSED with attempting to activate Halo, even if the Flood are "under control".

And yes, the BOOKS ROCK!!!
