NOTE:
- Raymond is a good high school buddy of mine who got me said job in Kabul.
- I'm writing this from our guest house in Dubai, U.A.E.

I was with Raymond in the dream, before we had left the Cape, and were in some movie theater or gas station or something getting some popcorn after the movie had finished.

As we were walking out, some usher or whatever started looking at the two of us and laughing, I have no idea why. I tend to get anxiety whenever I hear people laughing or whatever, and I can't pinpoint why. I always seem to think it's me they're laughing at (Superiority/Inferiority complex much?).

So as we're making our way out, I laugh that the kid is working some dead-end job, while Ray and I are about to make some nice money, and work in an exotic part of the world, while he's popping popcorn in the upstairs part of the theater.

One of his coworkers hears us saying this about him, gives us the "I'm going over to him right now to tell him what you just said" look, and crosses in front of us.

Ray's pretty much been our navigator while we've been in Dubai, and typically when we have a problem explaining to the taxi driver where we're going, I zone everything out and let him do all the talking. The less Billy or I get involved, the less confused we make the driver.

I start to do that until I start hearing some part of the story this kid's telling which isn't true. I interrupt them both and start loudly explaining to this kid my feelings on his job versus mine, etc etc. Basically the kind of shit I used to have to put up with when I worked in Verizon stores, and customers didn't feel the need to have to wait in line like the rest of the "riff raff".

After I finish my tirade, and we're leaving, I start to feel really really bad at the horrible things I said, and that I degraded someone because of some fucking job they got while they were 17.

The dream cuts to Ray and I getting off a subway in Boston, we're slowly making our way to the airplane. As we step out of the train, everyone around the station is looking up at the side of a skyscraper overhanging the rail tracks behind the two of us. I turn around and look up, and see a woman, maybe 30-40 years old sitting in a wooden chair, tied up to it and crying, with a gag in her mouth, tied to something hidden behind her, or being held by someone in her apartment. She's a good 30 stories up.

Everyone around is in such shock that I realize no one's calling the police. I try calling them, but every time I press 9-1-1, the phone hits a bunch of other numbers, and I keep getting "wrong number" error messages.

Suddenly the rope snaps, the woman plummets and a split second before she makes impact with the ground, I look away. I just can't stomach all of it at once. As I look back up, to everyone's shock and horror, the woman is able to stand back up, but must be suffering massive internal bleeding. She's trying to act like she's going to be ok, and she'll live through it, but her jaw's completely shattered, and she has this frozen look on her face of pure horror.

She spots me in the crowd, and my blood turns cold as she stumbles over to me. Unable to speak with her jaw in the condition it's in, she takes a pen out of my shirt pocket, and writes on a napkin lying on a restaurant table next to me "08:09am - Sean Daniels - Now you know."

It takes me a second to register that this person was killed because of the kid I made fun of in the movie theater. He called in a hit on this random woman to show me I fucked with the wrong person, and that they knew where I was. I didn't give them any indication of what company I worked for, or what country Ray and I were going to, but I immediately thought that Ray had used his credit card, and they tracked who he worked for and where we were going through that.

All of this rushes through my head in a split second of thought, and as the horror of impending harm sets in, I snap awake.

That dream was four hours ago, and I still remember most of the details like I just woke up from it. Haven't been able to sleep since. Great way to start the day flying to Kabul. :-/
