Hack stealing?

Is it really "hack stealing" if you insert a second .txt file along with the original saying that it was provided by your hosting service?

It has come to my attention, that there have been many hacks posted that have been "Stolen". An example of this can be when someone takes a hack someone has coded, changes a few things, and calls it their own.
It's not editing the CODE and it's not calling it your own.

Also a couple of quite legit posts about zero.dll were moved to teh void. Why? They didn't seem to be stealing hacks, and the credit still went to the original author. Please explain.

I'll give a couple of examples of the posts voided, with the moderator's edits still intact.

THis is kind of off topic, but i lost my copy of the new zero, RN can i have it pls?

How is that stealing the new zero? How's that stealing anything? He lost his copy of a piece of software, and is asking RN to give it back.

This is another poster quite innocently agreeing that a link to the file would be helpful, and that he also needs it. Explain.

Here was the link, of course. Which was obviously edited out. Could you please show to me how this file was "Stolen" as RN never ONCE claimed to have made it.

I think that'll do for now.

Refer to my first quote. Erik_ never once mentioned readmes, or help files in the new rule.

For what crime? I'm not pressing charges; I'm pointing out that the "new rule" has a bunch of major flaws. One of which is defining what is "stolen" and what is not.

Example: I highly doubt that Dt (for example) copy righted his work (Which is illegal and goes against the Broodwar EULA). As such it is not his property to be stolen; it's shareware. Even if he did copyright it you need to prove that the creator of "Zero.dll" used the code to make the file, and didn't have permission (Not just the same method). He could've done something similar from scratch.

Prove all of the above and I'll need to come up with more arguements.

Yeah thanks Big, all i was asking for was a link to where i could dl it again. I had it on my comp but i deleted it be mistake, im not trying to thief the code or anything. If dling hacks are illegal on this forum what is the point of having it?

Did he copyright his work? If so it's stealing. If not? I've got some tissues to help him deal with his issue.

Take him to court? He'd need to take US to court! Fool. :)

Edit: I put together a fesable (spelling) DEFENSE! I'm not talking about pressing charges. I'm saying that we can use/provide links to/host his hack, and he can't do diddly. GG no re, hack maker. :butterfly

Sorry Eric I didn't mean to offend in anyway. Yet tagging a download is in no way hack stealing. It just promotes your site. (Whichever site is using up the bandwidth to distribute the hack.) It's pretty fair, Promotion for use of bandwidth. Again, even with a hack, if the source code is public, and you incooperate it into your hacks, again it's ignorant to do, yet that's not even hack stealing. Why do you think we get so many hacks that are clones of others. As soon as someone release there source to the public all the noobie hackers (no offense either, considering i know crap about actually game hacking) take the source and throw it into whatever hacks they've attempted to code themselves, and release it.
