I'm in need of decent tabs for picking... I'm searching for rock stuff and they shouldnt be too hard, alright? I got almost all of the easy to middle melodies from the CDs I own myself so please post your favorites. That means no chords/strumming.

all their tabs are accurate, they have great forums with dedicated begginers sections, and as for finding stuff good for picking, just find a song you like and work at it. Master of Puppets was what got me started, but that might be too difficult, punk is always good to get palm muting/simple fast downstroke-only riffs. i reccomend old offspring, green day, my chemical romance, and tiger army.

I used to think the same that just playing single notes were easy...but seriously, strumming is far easier than learning to play some riffs that don't involve chords.

But if you are going easy, I would say to try and learn just about anything from Nirvana, and try Sweet Dreams from Marilyn Manson. Those were some of my first songs.

playing simple palm-mutted power chords also helps in building the accuracy, specially when playing punk where not everything always revolves around the low E string.

drop D/C/Cb/B = gay and nub and does nothing for progressing your skill or knowledge as a guitarist.

-EDIT- oh,something i failed to mention because it was second nature to me, but not necessarily all, is your major scale pattern. lemme see if i can tab it right in this window...

-----M--P---I--M--P---I--R---P---------R--I-----P--M--I---P-M
E----------------------------------------------------------------
B----------------------------------------------------------------
G----------------------2--4--5-//7\\-5--4--2-----------------
D-----------2--3--5-----------------------------5--3--2------
A----3--5--------------------------------------------------5--3
E----------------------------------------------------------------

I = index finger
P = pinky
M = middle finger
R = Ring finger
// = slide up
\\= slide down

great excersise to build both picking stability, speed, accuracy, and form, but also great for building your left hand and the often ignored pinky. Also note, that that is the major scale patter, and as such can be moved anywhere and will be the major scale for the root (starting note). Try picking straight in downstrokes, getting progressively faster each time you go up the scale, and once you start to notice that it's too hard then slow back down again. Then try alternating your picking between up strokes and downstrokes.
