Hi
[GUIDE] What chars to use in the early ladder season #2
[GUIDE] What chars to use in the early ladder season #2
*************************************************1. I have not pulled these information out of my ass, I researched at indiablo.de before writing this, belive me they know what they are talking about.
2. You will have to decide what to do first of all:
-You make a botsorc (Pindle NM, you will only die in hell) but since MF stuff will be rare, I suggest that manual meph runs with a trusted party or alone will be A) more fun and B) a better way to find some basic lowlvl items.
-You make a char that is supposed to fight for a position on the ladder, keep in mind that chars like th hammerdin will be a bad choice when the ladder starts, but after a few days/weeks a high level hammerdin might be a good choice.
-Or you make a support char for your team (enchantress/aura-pala), in case you have a clan and you just play D2 cuz its fun.
3. Remember to pick a "safe-char" in case you want to play harcore, the greater the distance between you and a HC-Hell-Monster, the better. More on that later.
4. In case you want to make a [Enter charname here] but you have no clue on how to do it you can ask meh, my new hobby is reading char-guide :]
5. Also keep in mind that unless nother public dupe is released, ites like Enigma and Hoto will be worth ALOT. Just telling you ... quite sure that some guys think "Mmmmhh I make a hammerdin, when ladder reset I bot then trade NIGMAHOTOCHAINSOFHONORANDCALLTOARMS lol np!"
Well here we go then
The following chars have turned out to be strong, especially in the beginning of the ladder season:
Armymancer
Strong char, doesn't matter if you have good items or not. Supported by a party you will be able to surive in hell, too. Armymancher doesn't die very often since they are mosntly protected by golems and minions. Really easy to skill/play, great for hardcore players.
1 Skelleton:
LvL 30 Skelletons and LvL 30 Mastery:
500 damage and 3500 Life in Hell
(In-Game display is bugged, these are correct values)
*Good for ladder-climbing and harcore*
Trapsassin
Like the Necro this char is not affected by bad items as much as sorcs, the traps deal enough damage on their own. Combined with Death Sentry you can alteast help out against Lightning-Immunes in hell, a quite safe build, since the only thing you actually need is life. Mana will be a problem early in the game: one trap needs 20 mana * 5 = 100 mana just for casting one single wave of traps.
Light. Sentry LvL 20: 141-151 * 5 Traps * 10 Shots
*Good for ladder climbing, hardcore and even manual pindle/shenk-runs*
Fireball/Meteor Sorc
First levels will be difficult, gets easier after that. Unlike highend-sorcs you will have mana/life problems, a few points in Energy might be good, FC-rate items are important, too. The damage is quite high, though without a nice party you will be ****ed up in hell. Not really a harcore-choice.
Fireball LvL 20: 207-215 + Synergies
Meteor LvL 20: 728-748 + Synergies + Fire Damage
(FM has not been added!)
*Sorc with most damage, good for MFing*
Blizzard Sorc
Almost the same as FB/M-Sorc, not as much damage but more safe because Blizzard is faster then meteor, and it freezes monsters. Better for the early season than a FB/M-Sorc sorc, also a good hardcore sorc.
Blizzard LvL 20: 570-600 + Synergies
(CM has not been added!)
*Safer version of FB/M-Sorc, good for MFing and Pindlebot*
Fire/Cold Sorc
Using Frozen Orb, Fireball and Meteor, not as good as the other sorcs when it comes to botting but alot easier to play in hell. Damage of course lower a "pure" sorc.
F-Orb LvL 20: 248-253 + Synergies
(CM has not been added!)
*Best allround sorc, great for rushing people and MF, harcore approved*
Hammerdin
Uber when equiped with godly stuff, difficult when they aren't. Mana problems will always be there, to surive you will also need alot of FC-rate which makes your mana flow away even faster, maybe not the best first-char-choice but not impossible either, dangerous for hardcore in the early season.
Blessed Hammer LvL 20: 164-168
*Very strong with the right items, harder to play*
These chars might work, too. Good choice if you are playing in a party where the chars above have already been taken
-Encahntress (Sorc using enchant to enchant low level chars, that way you can get ALOT of damage really early in the game, very usefull for leveling between 1 and 25, lasts 4 minutes at LvL 5)
-Javama (Lighting Fury, stay out of melee)
-Druids (Hurricane with Grizzly and Oak, no real killer more a support char although Tornado+Hurricane works well against immunes)
-Aura-Pala (Melee pala's will have a really hard time, but their auras can boost a party ALOT, FoH pally using convinction together with a sorc is one suggestion)
These chars are NOT any good in the early ladder season
-Barbs
Only good thing is their BO, but without high damage weapons they are useless, even Thorw-Barbs are better than Melee-Barbs this early.
-Melee chars
Same thing as with barb, since 1.10 casters have taken over. Without a good weapon you will get slaughtered by the end of nightmare. But if you really really really want to make a melee char: kicksassin or pala with usefull aura.
-The other guys
Lightning sorcs, venomancers (?), werewolf druids, bowzones

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, add a build or post what char you have decided to make, thx

EDIT: LoL I suck so much, never noticed that there is an entire section for D2 guides ... kind of wrong forum
