I just bought a new computer, really kick ass with awsome video card, but my moniter is old... The graphics are good but everything is dark in the game. I turned up the brightness and gamma but nothing.
There used to be some console commands that really would help alot, any of you know what commands to type in console to brighten up the map a bit?

Another question... my video card has video out but when i hook up my tv, the resolution is waaaaaay to small and i cant do anything, how can i fix this?

Thanks in advance

The command gl_overbright used to be really helpful if you had a dark monitor (or if you just wanted to see in those dark corners), but the command doesn't seem to work at all in CS 1.6.

As far as hooking up to your TV... uh, you'd probably want a tv with HDTV capabilities to hook your computer up to. Even 27+ inch flatscreens (like mine) seem only to be capable of low resolutions.

Oh yeah--what kind of cable are you using to connect to your TV? Or what graphics card, for the matter? Component video might give you better quality than S-video, if your card can support it. I did a little reading up and it looks like the highest quality any TV can support is 800x600x16. You might be able to get better visual quality if you upgrade your card's drivers. Go to www.atitech.com for ATI drivers or www.nvidia.com/drivers for Geforce drivers.

Also, as far as your brightness problem is concerned, I just remembered the texgamma command. The default is 1.5 or 2, and lower levels can make maps brighter.
