An orb sorc can be an incredibly strong dueler if used right it takes certain strategy to duel with this kind of build. If fired right the orbs damage will be considerable but if fired wrong the damage will be at minumum. The damage the ice bolts do is incredible considering the amount that get released and also the great thing about the orb is that it freezes or slows enemys giving you a great chance to unleash a couple of more orbs and that can mean instant death to your enemys. With my build you should be able to kill full health sorc in 1 hit or other melee classes in 2 hits if fired right. With this build if you follow it right you should get a sorc with around 1.8k life heavy orb damage and a very flexible defence.

Cold:

Ice Bolt - 1 (Synergy to Frozen Orb)
Frozen Armour - 1 <>
Ice Blast - 1 <>
Frost Nova - 1 <>
Shiver Armour - 1 (This armour is very good if your dueling some melee character. if there attack hits they get slowed and take additional cold damage, Also gives huge defencive bonus)
Glacial Spike - 1 <>
Blizzard - 1 <>
Chilling Armour - 1 (This armour is very good if your dueling other casters or ranged guys the ice bolts that get released damage and slow ranged attackers, Also gives huge defencive bonus)
Frozen Orb - 20 Max (This is your main attack a heavy damaging cold skill)
Cold Mastery - 20 Max (Greatly reduces enemys resistances to cold making it eisier to kill them)


Lightning:

Charged Bolt - 1 <>
Static Feild - 1 <>
Telekinesis - 1 <>
Nova - 1 <>
Lightning - 1 <>
Chain Lightning - 1 <>
Teleport - 1 (Very good skill a MUST for all sorcs Great for dueling)
Thunder Storm - 20 Max (A very good skill cast it then forget about it, stuns and damages enemys in duels very handy)
Energy Sheild - 1 (Always cast this before duels in many cases this means the difference between life and death)
Lightning Mastery - 20 Max (Increases all lightning skills damage mainly T-Storm, after maxing everything else max this last)


Fire:

Warmth - 1 (With +skill items this should go up and icrease your mana regeneration considerable)


Equipment:

Helm: NightWings Veil ( Try not to get any lower than 16% total Cold damage)
Poorman's Choice:
Shako with whatever you want socketed
Armour:Ebug Chains Of Honor

Sheild: Spirit Monarch
Poorman's Choice:
Lidless Wall

Weapon: +30%/-x% Deaths Fathom (Try not to get any lower than 25% total added Cold Damage)
Heart of the Oak Runeword

Poorman's Choice:
The Oculus

Gloves: Magefist (Added Mana Regeneration and Faster Cast Rate)

Boots: Imp Shanks (Added Strength, Resistances and Faster Hit Recovery)

9xCold GrandCharms (Get atleast some of them to give to life and mana)
Get Some +2 Strength Small Charms Enough So You CAn Use Gear Then Get 20 Lifer Small Charms)
If You Can Get It Try Having 1 Annihiluis
Also get a hellfire, this will let you be much better.

Everything Else:

Concerning Cool Down Time:

Frozen Orb has a cool down time, with that being said you have to realize that you should run away while waiting for a second shot.

Your Merc
As a sorceress, it is up to your merc to tank for you, and if your merc is unable to do so then you are not in a good position. Since the onbly purpose of your merc is to be a meat shield, then he has to be outfitted like a meat shield. If you decide that a merc is absolutely necessary to get, then get one with decent gear, so he can actually help you out.

Type: Act 2 Holy Freeze Merc

Helm:Corona of Ages: one or two socket depending on your richness with ber runes so he can take some damage

Weapon: Infinity Polearm, absolutely necessary if you expect to do any damage pvp

Armor: Ethereal Chains of Honor, for the resists and the slight damage reduction.

Merc Notes: Keep him alive, in duels tele a lot so he doesnt get killed, give him potions, or else you are in trouble.

SideNotes:

When you duel with this build always make sure you fire the orb directly on the person so when the orb explodes he takes all the ice bolts damage, if you fire it sideways or a little off the damage wont be signifacant, master this firing technique before you actually duel.

Always turn on Thunder Storm it not only stuns but also does a great deal of lightning damage which really does help.

Whenever you duel just turn on Energy Sheild buy man potions and watch as your enemy cant attack kill you but you can kill him.

Dueling Strategies: Casters
Against other casters tele around and dodge there attacks until you have a good shot try firing at were you think they will go next, if you fire the orb directly on them then usually thats all it takes to kill them even if they have full life.

Dueling Strategies: Melee
Against melee guys, First off tele away because they will just run at you faster you can avoid,tele around, fire orbs and watch as around half their health goes down, at this point they want retreat but because they are running after you, fire another orb and it should finish the job.

Version 1.3 might come if someone notices something important or relevant, that i might be missing.

Alright guide I suppose, but no char specifc strats. Also, sorb'ed tele baba's own this ez.

I thought of several things to say, then i read that 1.2 coming soon w/ the good stuff. Pretty good guide, just need what you said mostly. Add a dos/don'ts maybe, not on most guides.

I do applaud the guide, but N_'s right, this build is out of date. This guide became flawed as soon as b.net 1.1 came out. This guide may still be good with the classic players, but it is in need of GREAT improvement to still be good with the other expansion guides. Also, you might consider color coordination once upgraded.

Heh, now that's it edited, pretty good, eept it doesn't have enough fcr. Even though orb is a time'd skill, teleport is not, so if you can teleport extremely fats you'll own. I know the number one FO on useast, he has 200 fcr. And still does like 1k per shard.

well in order to achieve that you would have to use wiz gloves and wiz armor, and if you really want to thats up to you, but they are hard to find and poof easily so whatever...
