Glowing Usernames

How long does it take on average for the glowing username purchase to be applied to your name?

Or has mine already been applied and I just can't see it at home? (Opera, my IE doesn't work at all)

Beautiful. Weird that it didn't show up at my school, but it's all good. Thanks for showing me that it does indeed work.

Second question, why doesn't it work on Opera/Firefox/etc? I would like a more indepth reason than "Browser capatabilities", please.

Internet Explorer (or Microsoft, rather), developed a standard of their own, with their own DHTML and CSS2 capabilities. One of these was the filter parameter, which does the glow, as well as the blur, shadow and block tags that we've had and abused in The Void. Unfortunately (or fortunately), this was not implemented into the new standard of 'official' HTML, which is the standards that both the major browser engines, Internet Explorer and Netscape (its Gecko engine) both support.

Not to say that Firefox, which is based on Netscape, didn't develop its own CSS standards. Most of them are prefixed mso-, such as mso-margin-left.

I believe the reason the filter was not implemented was because:

~ You can only apply it to <table> tags, which causes awful HTML layout unless you use table { display: inline } in CSS, which can cause some serious headaches when tables are lined up next to each other.
~ It lags like hell when used a lot. This is because it uses random seeds to generate a glow.
~ It lags when used with large text.*

I bought, and I'm sure no one can see mine or even cares about mine. Everyone either uses FF or is using the wrong skin. lol. I thought it was a great waste of points. There is no other need for points but for that purpose.
