Gateway editor question

I need informations about the GateWay editor for d2, does it only make a gateway in your list or can other people can join your gateway if they have ip and how to create a private gateway, will it be chars saved on evryone's own comp or all data stored in mine i would like to have informations because there is no readme with the file or anything, only the .exe.

Gateway editors only purpose is to allow you to modify your registry and add servers to your server list IE: Realms. This is used to play on private realms using emulation software for the Battle.net client.
