From EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) August 2004 issue letters:

Massive Multipler
I was tipping a few back with some freinds at a local Pittsburgh tavern, discussing my plans to rent a movie theater and play Halo on the big screen, when the guy sitting behinds us leans over and says he coulden't help but overhear our convorsation. Apparently, he runs the IMAX theater at the local science center and has already battled in Blood Gultch on a four-story screen. Better yet, he sweetened the deal by linking up a second Xbox in the adjacent planetarium.

-Anthony (Last name left blank on porpose)

That's a wicked awsome idea; play an awsome game like Halo, UT2K4, or games like that on IMAX. That idea is ****ing brilliant!

Any comments?

Master Chief would be like 15 feet tall. Not to mention the amazing sound that would accompany the huge screen. It'd be a near gaming heaven.

You know, if people wanted too. They could use the halo forum for once... Just don't be lazy, because you have to click the link to get there.

This wasnt directed at Halo specifically. Thats the game the used in the letter is all: The reason for this thread was to see the comments on this general idea (Playing gems on IMAX)

Halo just happened to be the game the guy in the letter talked about. Other than that this thread is about any game as much as it is halo.

I have a 70' tv with surround sound but it supposedlly ****s it up when you hook a console to it, I have only done it a few times, but it is amazing.

I would cream my pants if I could hook my pc up to an imax screen.

Eh... that was a rumor started by parents who were tired of their kids hogging up the TV.

I've seen console games played on a widescreen PowerPoint Projector (it was about 40" wide) on a wall once. The screen could have been bigger if the projector wasn't mounted to the roof. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to play the game on a theater screen... there's an old, cheap, stinky theater in town that no one visits... hm, I wonder what the staff there does after hours?

I'd love to play Pong on an Imax screen. I just think it would be hilarious. Then after that I would whip out my new Tales of Symphonia game, and start playing that. :D

Ahh.. The ball would go the length of the screen too fast for me, my eyes wouldnt be able to keep up.

That **** up is called burn in and its a proven fact, althought technology is getting so good now, you would have to be playing that game non-stop for like 2 months for it to burn in your life meter and stuff. And when your watching other things (tv, movies) its hard to notice unless you look at it. The thing is when the tv is off, you can still see your life meter XD lol

If I had a TV-Out cable on my old-school GeForce2, I would be playing Diablo 2 and Starcraft on my 58" Big Screen HDTV ;)

Ehh you realize whoever bumped this bumped a month old thread right?

Anyhow; the Carnegie Science Scenter (the place were the guy rented out the IMAX) just happens to not do that anymore. Dont ask me why but I asked around, and they wouldn't allow it.

Thats just here though, I'm sure most any other place would do it if you paied them enough...
