I doubt it's the laser... It could be, though. Has your GameCube experiance any trauma lately? As in, has it been bumbed or jostled? Especially with a game in it? And playing? I'm thinking more along the lines of a belt or motor.

Also. Any other problems noted? Does it get hot? Do you hear the fan? Is there dust built up?

Something could have been jostled loose and just recently came off. It could be something as simple as a solder connection. Is it still in warranty?

not strill in warrenty. error message is as follows: Error disk cannot be read. Refer to Gamecube instruction booklet. im not paying 60 buck to send it in, that would suck.

I take it the error is showing up with other games as well? What happens when you boot up the system with no game in it?

Trust me. It's an electronic device. Though well made, a good enough jostle can loosen a connection, and dust build up can cause the processor to overheat (or other components). You still have to take care of it ;)

So can you guess what's wrong? Do you have an idea, or do I have to go ebay?

If I had to guess, it would be the laser, a solder connection, the fan, a motor, or a belt. I can't be more specific without looking at it and, possibly, opening it up =/ Sorry.
