The Nintendo DS is backwards compatible with Gameboy advanced games true, but it apparently is not the official continuation of gameboy. There were rumors that a gameboy was going to come out that was more powerful than the PSP.

nintendo/game boy are moving really really fast with their products. the had gba then the square one and now the gameboy ds.wounder what microsoft will have as a hand held.prolly be size of a brick w/e it is

I think the gameboy pocket really epitomized the gameboy. From then on, things were just not the same.

GBE was thought to be the new gameboy, but that has been discredited. The codename 'Revolution' is now known to be associated with the next gen Nintendo system. It is rumored there will be the next continuation of the gameboy near the end of 2005, and it will read mini-dvds that the GCN reads.

Oh, and the NDS is not a gameboy.
