ok tell me if im doing this right and if not please tell me what to do.I downloaded the game saves for expansion and i take the Diablo 2 Character and drag it to my Diablo 2 folder under saves where all my characters are. then i launch diablo 2 and the expansion characters arent there. and i do the same with the non expansion characters and it works. and yes i have installed LOD.

Do you mean hacked characters off the web?

If you want hacked characters, go and get Jamellas trainer for Single Player. To my knowlege, hacking a char on Bnet is either impossible (as your char is stored on their servers) or just a bad idea... either way, I wouldn't go there is I was you, safe that way. but to get to the point... Does it download in a zip format? cuz there like 3 or 4 individual files for each character that you would need in order for them to show up when you launch.

i found out what to do i need the patch(Patch 1.11 Expansion) and when i run the patch it will install and it loads up diablo 2 but it wont even go to the previews it make that sound when something goes wrong and i have to unistall diablo 2 and reinstall it again.So what can i do to prevent this?
