Well, my friend decided to beat Final Fantasy VII before watching Advent Children, and he beat the first disk (the part where aeris dies) then it says insert disk two. Now, when he inserts disk 2, his PS2 makes a scratching noise, and refuses to play the disk. He's e-mailed Sony about it, but I doubt they would know. Anyone know what the problem is or if you had it before?

IT seems his disk is damaged no doubt. Tell him "Tough luck, and take care of your disks more often".

I hardly think Oldness is the case. I still have my FF7 I have owned for like 4+ years and it barely has scratches.

IS he playing it on the PS1? Try a PS2, because it looks over scratches WAY better than a PS1, but I have had games that make th at sound when playing a PS2 game in a PS2 before, just go to a local FYE or Phatboys Video Games and buy a disc cleaner, or get Phatboys to buff your disc.

I have the same problem with FF VIII =/ It's less expensive to just buy the game again (for about $15 or $20) than to buy a Disc Doctor ($30). A Disc Doctor, however, can be reused. I know the one Radio Shack sells works on GC, PS2, and X-Box games.

Well, the disk doesn't look scratched, and he is playing on a PlayStation2. Recently, he mentioned that it was used...that might explain why it could be in bad shape (he's overprotective about his games), but like I said before, there are no visible markings or anything. Alas, Sony hasn't answered, but I doubted they could give a solid answer anyway.

Thats because the PS2 has 4 lasers within the system. PS1 has one laser alone.
