Final Fantasy, Getting Back to Roots

With the upcoming Revolution and download-to-play games, one would wonder where the following news comes into play in actual worth.

Final Fantasy III, IV, V, and VI are being launched on the DS (III) or GBA (IV, V, and VI) by SquarEnix in the coming months/year (plural/singular for obvious reasons). One might wonder if SquarEnix will take advantage of the DtP service offered by Nintendo for the Revolution.

In fact, SquarEnix has already jumped on board with a good assortment of games, including those listed above. So why come out with handheld versions of said games? The answer is so simple its obvious, marketability. The Nintendo handhelds practically own the market, and SquarEnix definately wants a piece of that pie.

Dawn of Souls (FF and II) did quite well, re-igniting fans interest where interest were lost or opening up the original chapter(s) to gamers who never experianced it. IV and V are quite possibly my favorite of the entire FF series (and I have played/beaten them all), and I am strongly looking forward to their release...and you can bet I'll be playing them on my lovely DS.

So. Old news? News? What can I say? I'm excited to have the original and good Final Fantasies available for my handheld. I'll likely be reserving my copies (III and IV have confirmed dates) within the next few weeks.

I have access to 4-6 through a little invention called Zsnes .

But yeah, there is nothing like bringing back the hard and best games of all time to the newer systems.

ZSNES isn't transportable like the DS or GBA :rolleyes At the same time...there is a ZSNES available for the DS >_<

I never really liked the stories or characters. FF to me was just a game about good looks and music.

Crystal Chronicles had the graphics, music and customization. Multiplayer requires enormous teamwork, but still suffers from repetitive fighting.

As you can see, I'm not too excited about these ports...

I'll keep my eye open for future CC games however.

I'd buy a Gb/NR for the said games, as well as upcoming games. Until then, Zsnes will do for me.

Anyway...

Revy I seriously recommend you try playing FFIV and FFV ^_^ Those both, in my honest opinion, had excellent storylines. Besides, neither game are either really pretty or acustically sound. Afterall, they relied, very heavily, on the limitations of 16-bit.

Besides, you can play all the GBA Final Fantasy re-releases and DS re-releases on the wonderous DS with its beautiful screen and amazing handheld sound :ninja:
