Fighting a ghost

Has it ever happened to you...when you could havew sweared you shot the guy like 45 times with a colt,ak or whatever and then somehow kills you......and it says you did absolutly no dmg o anything liike that

yeah, but i get a ping of 30-60, so lag, i think not

ive put a colt at a buys head from point blank fired and he no die, i got freaked out and just spamed him, still killed him though, done the same with a scout many a time as well.

Correct Lag think not cause i would have no lag and i swear i would have shot guy like 17 time yet no death or dmg done to him so i don't know what to sa7

yeha it happens.. epecially whne u are close to teh guy. In cs bullets are slow and u can dodge them. Also the gun can be like resting on the guys shoulder so the bullets actually come outbehind the guy and never have the chance to hit him. But if he far away its some bug or ur pc had a spasm.

When you encounter problems like that, you should just change servers. It happens to me every once in a while, most often when It seems to happen most often when you're playing against the server host (who has 0 ping) when you have 120+. It's definitely annoying when you are at point blank and aiming so surely that you definitely fit in a few headshots and you still die when he shoots you in the leg a few times.

Oh yeah, one hint in these scenarios--don't use automatic weapons. Use shotties, snipers, pistols, and SMG's. MP5's are probably best.

yeah, aks at short range are shithouse, colt is just better. it is amazing sum times thought difference between playing on a lan and with 60+ ping. i get 3 times more hs playing at lans for sum reason, i dont know if its the ping, o just fluky.

Something funny happened to me today... two Terrorists were standing in front of me, one directly behind the other. I shoot straight at the guy in the front with a colt, and neither of them move but the guy in front shoots me. Somehow, I killed the guy in back, and the guy in front got away with 65 HP. Eh, what can I say... weirder things have happened in the world of Counter-strike.

when you have no lag....

dont blame the game...blame your skill...no you did not shoot him...no your bullets did not hit him and NO it made no thump...

if you have 0 ping and you still miss point blank..then you seriously...need to rethink your life or delete cs off oyur computer

um... i dont really no but he does know cs but i do think the lag is the problem even when u have no lag its like fighting a ghos ^|^

if u lag and u have the ping of 40 or 60 it either means u have a slow pc or some 1 else has a huge ping laging u

well i got no slow pc (athxp2100+, GF4Ti4200, 768mb pc2700 DDR) so its time to slap sum HPBs.

heeh, this is kinda off topic, but i thought it was pretty cool. i was playing dod and using the mauser, when i fired this perfect shot and got 5 people standing right behind each other. i didn't know this was possible, so maybe it was a glitch or somethign too..

but i once snuck up behind a ct on dust2, i had a scout, and from maybe 15 ft away i scoped, aimed right at the middle of his head....and missed....i was standing still with walk on. and i was on a lan.

Wanna see something cool? It'll help everyone understand exactly why these "ghosts" can evade your bullets. Type in console during a game:

cl_lc 0
cl_lw 0

That turns off Lag Compensation and Lag W (not sure what it stands for). With those off, the lag delay which is usually disabled is allowed. If you play with them off for a while and get used to it, you might actually start to do better.
