Well, ill be buying the parts you guys suggested in two weeks.

Now i need a nother setup, but for a nother rig.
This rig is not for gameing, it is my Server.

Things it runs:
IRC
Ventrillo
HTTP/PHP/MySql/Forums
FTP
TeamSpeak
DVD Rips, WebSpace for my buddys, Music Rips, ect.

I currently have a rig for it, but i need something better...heres the current specs:

1.2ghz intel proccesser
256ram


60gig HD

I was thinking like 500gb or 1tb. Post what you think i should add.


*Please Note, this isnt a webhosting service, its for My site, and maybe a few things for some friends.

i was thinking atleast 1gb of ram.

That won't work on a server simplly because you don't have a fast enough inet.

Yep. You could have top of the line hardware but if you don't have a fast connection it is crap.

Well, it has ran just fine b4, normally i putup irc and stuff and it runs fine, and the ftp shit is for myself.

Yeah I thought you meant as like a clan webserver, it wold work for irc and ventrillo I would think because that isn't exactlly demanding. But if you want a decent webserver you need atleast a t3.

even for a website it would be fine....its if you want to run like a cs server or a diablo server, then you would have to upgrade your processor and motherboard....

You should snatch up one of those dual proc G5s before they're gone.. there's some recertified ones going for cheap on their site.. perfect for a server
