I've been playing this for a few hours now, and despite similarity to Oblivion, I have to painfully admit to myself I enjoy it.

Alright so the combat isn't the tightest, and the VATS system is like putting a band-aid over a shotgun shell to the face, but the rest of the package is decent enough to forgive a few of the minor problems (something oblivion didn't).

The presentation and style are top notch, borrowing a 50s feel, and with the large environments this comes across a lot better than in the previous games.

Normally I don't like most RPGs, and where modern action RPGs have forgivable qualities, a game like Oblivion or mass effect tend to bore me after a bit. This hasn't bored me yet (although i can't make promises i'll make it to the end). But I have to say I'm impressed.

looking it up, the internet tells me the game won't be released for another 10 days, and hopefully by that time i'll have beaten it. So discussion about the upcoming fallout3 and anyone who wants to know something about the game before hand can ask me.

This game was a lot better than I expected. Characters actually have depth to them. The dialog looks like its from a B movie but the voice acting is pretty good. I got tired of watching bodies roll around on the ground in slow motion after a while though. I was also playing it on normal but it was pretty fucking easy. Despite the fact that it lacks in some areas it definitely feels like a fallout game.

Also the AI isn't completely retarded so that's a plus. I played it for probably 10 hours and only saw an enemy shoot a wall one time with a missile.

I'll give it a download. I don't have a 360 up here at college, so meh. I'm stuck with that until I can buy it.

I'm getting it as a present in a few days (I love my Squishy), so I'll be playing it during the Christmas holidays. Ah...spending the festive season with my geeky side is something I need to cherish.

Can't wait!

I doubt you're really going to spend much time playing it. While I do love sneaking around sniping people the quests just seem monotonous and unrewarding. You can't even join the BoS. Fucking fail.

I'm expecting Dragon Age to be my time sink but sadly it's not supposed to come out till march. :(
It's also supposed to come out for the PC before consoles and that never fucking happens.

Game gets too easy when you can one shot super mutants or two shot deathclaws and mutants that were supposed to be strong, max small guns, repair and lockpick and you're set.

If it wasn't for the godawful ending I would have played it more. I didn't save for awhile before I got to the ending and didn't feel like starting way back.

I love those headshots. I've been playing for a week straight and I think I'm done with the sneaking around. Full guns ahead! I'm disappointed about certain stuff though - I have yet to come across a similar scenario where I get to be a porn star like in Fallout 2, which I haven't accomplished yet either. :p

the ending was incredibly lame, but I conclude that if anything, the game shouldn't even end. It should just keep going.

The main storyline itself was pretty weak (Considering radioactive fallout when filtered through earth removes 99% of contamination.) If everyone in this post apocalptic world would stop using mini-nuke launchers and shooting cars that explode like a nuke, they wouldn't have a problem 200 years later.

I have to agree about the weak story line, I think it could have been way better. In many ways, Fallout 2 has a better touch to this area.

Oh but I love watching those slow motion bullets when in VATS mode...It makes my redhead babe look so cool. :)

Bumping this up to share experiences.

I agree with Pan. THE ENDING SUCKS. I've backtracked massively and currently going through the rest of the quests and exploring more areas. But I want to share what I did at Paradise Falls:
- Talked to the guy at the entrance of Paradise Falls. Neutral status as I wasn't allowed in until I've recaptured the slaves.
- Decided to take them down but didn't want to go and blaze them with guns. I got bored with just shooting them, despite the fact that I already am trained to wear power armour so it's not like I was going to die on the spot.
- Set up shitloads of mines at the entrance. "I hope you know what you're doing!" (I was laughing when he said that - because obviously I DO know what I'm doing!)
- Went further back away from the mines until the wall blocked their vision.
- Tossed a grenade over the wall to piss them off.
- Obviously they were pretty annoyed and came out.
- Crippled a leg when one mine went off. LOL.
- Those dudes DAIed after 2 more mine blasts. LOLLERSKATES.

Yeah, there are loads of ways around this, but it was when they said "I hope you know what you're doing" that really got me laughing. Of course, the raiders too when I drop grenades from above the bridge on top of them and they start screaming "Oh shit!"

Man, I love Fallout.

Looking back on it, it could've been better. I mean, there's so many feats or whatever that just plain suck. You basically have to go range weapons to enjoy the game. I wanted to be a melee dude but there's just shit for melee, everything is either broken or just terrible. I dunno, i just couldn't finish this game.
