External hard drive for gaming?

i was just wondering, if i where to go out and buy a 250gig external hard drive could i install all my games onto it and then every time i wanted to play would i be able just to plug it in and press start?

Well, some games need to write to a registry in order to do whatever (CD key stuff usually), and I think you might be able to get away with installing Windows onto the ext but I don't think you can choose where the registry writes to when you install the game.

If it were me, id just get a huge integrated hard drive, make a fatty partition, and put all my games on that.

That's how my setup is.

And actualy, Warcraft TFT runs great off it.
