Does anyone still play this game? I made an eariler thread on it but its way back there, and new people have joined and brought the SC Sections back to life so here it is: do any of you guys play the UMS known as Evolves? Just basic, no 2005, or those rigged air-evolve maps please. Just plain old Evolves? I played a good amount of them today, and I must say it has to be my favorite UMS still. Back when I played SC as an addict, I tirelessly played through the basic version seeing all the weaknesses, and all the counter attack paths, just anything that could get me the edge or allow me to play better. With that being said, I know most of the disadvantages of the units, the good points, what they will die against, and basically everything else. :) But this is for the basic version. It takes me about an hour to analyze any other versions after the 2005 version since the unit stats are different. But generally, I can see two units, and see them massed. Determine their stats and tell you who would win if you bashed them together at once. :dance

I've never played evolves. Everytime I ever joined an evolves game, the host left before it started, so yeah. I never took the initiative to host it, since I had finished DLing at least one version, and have formatted since then. Perhaps the next time we go on a UMS spree, you should host me up some of that :)

Well, basically how it works is this. You start off usually wtih two science vessals, which spawn a unit (The unit depends on how many points you have, the higher the points, the better the units in the evolution chain.) every second or two. Then you have your Bunker, which is your lifeline. If it's destroyed, then you lose. Now, you choose either Ghosts or Marines for your bunker Defenders. And basically it jut depends on how you attack your opponet thereafter that determines the game. I have a few neat strategies that allow me to pull in the lead though, and those are pretty common still. But yeah, thats how it works. Most units you can think of besides guaridns, Corsairs, Devourers, and some others arn't used. They also sometimes have a point limit, that if you reach it you automatically win. :)

Since this is the Evolves thread and all, why don't you upload it? :p

Which one? The basic or..? Theres..hundreds of ersions, but for the most part, the basic one is probably the simplist, fastest and funnest to ply. Standard 2v2, Red and Blue vs Orange and Purple, Top vs Bottom. But alright, I'll upload that one, if you can tell me how. :)

...you seriously don't know how? Click on "Post Reply" beneath the bottom right hand corner of the last post. Then go down a ways and click "Manage Attachments". Then find and upload it. Write a reply and when you submit, the map(s) you selected will be attached to the post. You can pick your three favorite evolve maps if you want.

Ohh. I didn't know it worked the same way with up,oading a basic arttachment. >< Anyways, here's Evolves, the basic version I described in my top post. It's good to try it first to get the feel of it, it can be confusing at times. Enjoy :)

Edit: The old attachment was dumb. This ones better.
