It's a very good book, but not the best I've ever read. Card's other works, such as Speaker for the Dead(my personal favorite of his)and Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon are in my opinion better or at least equal books. If you like Ender's Game because of the action, read Ender's Shadow and that series; it follows Bean, and is quite violent and action filled. If you, like me, appreciate Ender's Game more for the intrigue and philosophic elements therein, continue the series focusing on Ender.

I like Speaker for the Dead way more then i liked Ender's game. I liked Speaker for the Dead for its philosophy like shutupandgoaway said. Speaker for the Dead is the best book i have ever read,I have also read all of the Ender quartet and the shadow series. Both of the series are better then anything i have ever read(including the over detailed piece of crap Lord of the Rings).

I understand that many people think LotR is too detailed, but if you can settle down for a while and read it, it's a very good book. I think Card is as good an author as Tolkien. Ender's game is a much faster paced book. Also, if you think speaker for the dead is good, why do you think LotR is overdetailed? SftD is easily as detailed and complex. Ahh,well-you're entitled to your opinion.

I thought that the book was very predictible when they had him do the "Final test". I just knew it would be real. and i like shadow of the hegemon because of the politics, so dont read that one.:)

I don't like the shadow books. But the original Ender series is excellent. Yes, shadows had the whole political situation, but I think there was a great blend of that in the original books as well.

So who's getting a speaker when they die? :)

It was okay...it was my first "long book" when I was about eleven (sigh...memories) so it has a place in my heart for that. I only read Xenocide after reading Ender's game so I missed some things but still got the gist of it, never wanted to go back to read the others though.
