Dumb Smiter Questions

Ok,

I have read a bunch on the smiter build on this forum and I like what everyone's suggested. But I have these questions about the build:

1. Can you activate the life tap [from dracs] by using Smite attack only? I know it activates with zeal/normal striking. I notice that Smite doesn't seem to life leech.

2. Crushing blow: I have gore riders, do I need other items for this? If so, which ones?

3. Why is greif considered the best wep for a smiter? Is it the IAS? A bunch of other weps have IAS bonuses.

4. Can you beat the ubers solo or should you have help? I think you can, but realistically, is it very difficult or not?

1. You need these items, and to my knowledge lifetap does work. (I could be wrong on this, please say so if I am)

15% Chance To Cast Level 5 Life Tap On Striking
Level 13-16 Defiance Aura When Equipped (varies)
+2 To Offensive Auras (Paladin Only)
+30% Faster Block Rate
Freezes Target
+220-260% Enhanced Defense (varies)
Replenish Life +7
+5% To Maximum Cold Resist
+5% To Maximum Fire Resist
25% Better Chance Of Getting Magic Items
Repairs 1 Durability in 4 Seconds


Dracul's Grasp
Vampirebone Gloves
Defense: 125-145 (Base Defense: 56-65)
Required Level: 76
Required Strength: 50
Durability: 14
+90-120% Enhanced Defense (varies)
+10-15 To Strength (varies)
+5-10 Life After Each Kill (varies)
25% Chance of Open Wounds
5% Chance To Cast Level 10 Life Tap On Striking
(Only Spawns In Patch 1.10 or later)

2. No it's not needed, but you could add some if you like. ( I will edit with option)

3. Grief Phaseblade is good, due to the fact that it is indestructable. Same with Botd Zerkers. I am not sure if IAS applies. if it does, Grief would reach the the next of attack speed.

4. If the build is done properly, with high enough lvl and life/def.
If this is your first time doing Ubers, I would advise going with someone that has done it before.

Exile is expensive, but is also a must for a smiter. Good luck with that trade.

the reason why smiters use grief is because the +400 damda is added into the smite damage, though it is not shown on the character screen, it is still factored in. Exile is not a must, It has been proven that the added defense you get from exiles defiance aura on adds a 3% or so chance of not getting hit against a foe with 15k AR, or somehting like that i forget the exact numbers, yes the chance to cast LT is greater on exile however if you choose HOZ which has better res, stats, and +skills, you will still proc LT from dracs. or equip a last wish go in there with a zeal and start smiting.

2. Crushing blow: I have gore riders, do I need other items for this? If so, which ones? If you can afford a last wish (and u want to kill ubers and not duel) get a LW, it has piles of CB and more Life Tap

3. Why is greif considered the best wep for a smiter? Is it the IAS? A bunch of other weps have IAS bonuses. More damage in duels, i prefer Last Wish for ubering

4. Can you beat the ubers solo or should you have help? I think you can, but realistically, is it very difficult or not? With life tap and CB its very easy

Replace the gore riders with a goblin toe. No really, do it.

going back to the HoZ vs Exile. for pvm/ubers Exile is a must, mainly becuase of its lifetap can get a +45 res and the defince.
But for pvp/ genral play use a HoZ u can the skills, res etc which is better n a little less smite dmg than a exile, but the skills even it up.
But as sworn enermy sed to have a great smiter exile is a must.
IMO if your a smiter and your going to solo uber trist dont even think about going in there without a exile.
