i created a dedicated server on one of my comps so all of my friend and i could have a private game.....only i can join and my friends can't....can someone help me with this?!

this is for 1.6 btw
master_america - i alrdy did that and they still couldn't join
re'coil - global ip??? i just give them the ip address that appears under the game

Type status in console once the server's started to find your server's IP. Give them that IP. If that IP is 127.0.0.1 (or something like that), then you're either not connected to the internet or you're protected by some firewall. That would be a local IP. If you see that, get rid of your firewall and restart the server.

ok u can call me dumb or w/e its cool i disabled my firewall and restarted the server...still my friends can't get in......the ip to it tho is 192.168.0.100.....anymore idea's....

Ok, yep... that's not the global IP. Ok... I'm assuming you have Windows XP. Right-click your Network Places (whether it's on your desktop or your start menu) and click Properties. Clic k the Advanced tab and make sure that the firewall there's disabled.

EDIT: Gah, not a staff member anymore... can't check people's IP's. :p Uh... go here and you should get your IP.
