I finally upgraded my video card and now can somewhat playthe demo on my PC. Its a great shooter and has a better (and not to mention fullier and complete) storyline than Halo2. (Halo2's plot was just about as thick as a piece of paper, Doom3 at least finished it story and didn't cut things out to "make deadline")
Doom3, has one of the largest set backs in the gaming industry. Graphics. It needs, nay I say REQUIRES, top of the line video and cpu processers to run smoothly and without graphic fabric rips. Even of the lowest of low settings you still need a damn good computer, which most people don't have.
The Xbox version: EXpac doesn't provide the super-duper graphics like a fully loaded comp. But still is very decent. I don't believe that its a first class shooter, there are many other games which could pass it, but graphicly it holds to standards that the media-press has raved about.
I do like the seriousness of the play though, unlike the halo series where it looks like hybrid-
japanima, Doom3 takes monsters and makes " their bites MUCH worse than their bite." The game is simple, you pretty much follow the way the creators indended and once you get a good gun, GG. While ammo is usually in short supply, cheats can be easily aquired through a few and simple codes.
All in all, good game, good graphics, decent plot, and playable somewhat.
