Well, do they? A lot of moderators seem to have higher quality / bigger pictures than the average user..

And if they do, that is lame.

Edit: I posted this in Introductions, but no one responded..

I'm pretty sure they do. If you look at theirs and compare the size to someone else's theirs is sometimes bigger, yet they never have to change it. Also I'm sure they do since they also get colored text underneath their names.

They don't. Lmao. Sorry to burst your bubble.

There is a set size for avatars for everyone. 125 x 125. Some of us are just better at setting the quality than others ;)

I think the avatars are the same size (height and width) but the files may be larger. Maybe there's an exception for sig images? That would make more sense, I think. At any rate, I really haven't noticed anything strange....

You can upload avatars SMALLER than 125 x 125 pixels, but you can't go over it.

I didn't really notice it until I started looking for it. Then it seemed like some of them had bigger avatars, and some had normal sized ones.

By the way Roach, your avatar is bigger than anyone else who has posted in this thread :p

Edit: Nevermind, Rygon's avatar is about the same size as yours.

That isn't my fault that you upload a smaller avatar than mine. If you read above, anyone can get up to 125 x 125 pixels. Not just mods.

I understand that, but is it possible that the limit on the file size (like in bytes, not pixels) could be higher for mods, not necessarily for avatars, but for sig images?

The limit on an avatar size for a normal member is 15 Kb. I wasnt talking about physical size.

So, can Moderators or Administrators upload avatar images that can exceed 15000 Kb or not?

Roach's avatar seems to be unusually high in quality.. an image that is 125x125 pixels usually has to be in very low quality if you want to use it as an avatar in BF.

Edit: If you look at my avatar, the quality isnt exactly the best on the block. And I think it was right below the maximum capacity..

Mods? No. Think of us as regular members with a dropdown box with powers.

Admins? Sure. They could upload a 20 gig file if they wanted as an avatar.

The limit is 15kb? I didn't know that. But in any case, all the moderators for this forum have avatars within the size limits....

If I direct-link my avatar from my domain, do the size restrictions still apply?

A normal picture at 125*125 won't exceed the size limit, only an animation. Roaches avatar is exactly 125*125, so thats a big as you can get, but any normal member could have the same avatar.

In theory, an admin could use any image as an avatar, except it would just mess up the skin and all of the other graphics would be bumped out of place. I was tempted to upload an animated 125*125 infernal once, but as you can see I resisted =). I dont remember any case every where a mod or admin ever ended up with an avatar a normal member couldn't have.

Damn dude.. its 125x125 and it still looks good. The avatar Im currently using is near the maximum.. every time I enlarge it, I have to move the quality down.. (I used Photoshop).

Renzokuken: Rygon, keep your old avatar. It looks alot better than your current one.
MeH, Im going to change it regularly. I dont like to stick with one avatar, its boring =P.

And.. I just realized that I could have just gone to picture properties.. Ha ha ha.. go me..

Oh yea, cxoli and I had a question: if you direct-link your signature to your domain or a hosting domain, can you make your avatar any size?
