It might just be me, but I found the quests of Diablo I to be greater in entertainment and reward then those of Diablo II. Maybe it's because Diablo I has an actual evil and dark feeling to it. It could also be because the quests were a lot more fun. Going to fight a skeleton king and all his minions and getting a special item for it. Returning an ancient elixer to a fallen knight grats you owership of his vigilant helm. I loved quests in Diablo I, but for some reason I couldn't quite get into those of Diablo II. They just seemed boring to me for some reason. Anyone else feel thia way? :)

I agree, the D1 quests were a lot more fun. For a first quest, would you rather:
A) Slay a Demon Butcher and get his shiny cleaver to cut up monsters
or
B) Kill some things in a cave and get a skill point.

In Diablo 2, you got skill points and sometimes you didn't get anything, and the quests weren't even that fun, while in D1 you got items and stuff and they were really fun for some reason. They should also bring back the idea of not being able to see future quests that are grayed out and stuff, just so you have to talk around.

Hard too. It took us a lot of hits to kill Leoric. He had to refil potions twice, while I dodged and shot from afar with my rogue. He wasn;t so lucky on The Butcher though. We were on his frontdoor step and Dragnskull opened the door and he chased us. DS didn't heal after I revivied him and Butcher cut him in half. I was barely able to win against the beast by trapping myself on a room with metal fencing and a door. I shoot him through the fencing until he died. He dropped a neat claok that I gave to Dragnskull. :)

Too bad Leoric made him lose it plus a godly helm I bought him. (Well, it was nice, heh.) :(

The cool thing about DI quests is, they change periodically. You can do the Butcher quest, Leoric the undead king, the poison'd well, the tavern sign, ancient knight, the "big uglies"(hehe), and at least thrice as many quests then in DII.

Yeah. You can make a new game with the same character on one player and get all the quest items. Items that are unique items in Diablo II. Such as Arkaines Valor, which you get in Laybrinth level 5 from the Bloondstone Quest. Veil of Steel, from the Ancient Knight Quest, and Harliquin Crest, from the Stolen Tavern Quest. :D

Hehe, yep. But it seriously sucks in Diablo I. It can give - stats. That's one thing I didn't like about Diablo II, most of the items were always positive. In Diablo I, you can get items that give negative to your stats, HP, MP, and other abilities. :p

D1 was pretty fun when I first got it, but I'd have to say that Blizzard dropped the ball on the whole Diablo series. They should have made it with the depth of Baldur's Gate.

The story line is much more in-depth and better supported than Diablo. Or fallout. If Black Isle would put out a fallout game with something like b.net, diablo would be officially dead, just because the universe is so much more interesting than diablo's cliche fantasy universe.
