I believe it's set after everything thats happened in all the games. That or the time period between 2 and 1

Many fans of the DMC series were left hungry for more after the conclusion of the third DMC game. Recently the DMC crew has released new information on the game's storyline. Here it is, in a nutshell:

Much to the horror of DMC2 players, the game will feature another character, who is, apparently, a lion/man hybrid who wields numchucks. Although it sounds silly in theory, the creators promise that it is much more intimidating than it sounds.

Storywise, the game takes place inbetween the first and third games. Supposedly, a demon named Dagaboth has been sent back in time in order to eliminate Dante's mother, who was briefly seen in the first game. It is also suspected that the numchuck wielding lion-man was also sent back to protect her.

In addition to the moves we are all familiar with, Dante will have new abilities in order to face his new enemies. Enemies are now able to hack off Dante's limbs, which Dante will have to "sew" (Yes, sew) back on, in what seems to be a "sewing minigame."

For now, this is all there is. Please wait for more details to come out.
