Depressing music.

Yeah.. I get into these phases, where I listen to ALOT of sad music. I think theres been a thread about this from jenny, but this is more of a "insert sad song i like and why" thing. Recommendations are cool too..

But yeah, I've been in the phase again..

I listen to the whole "The wall" album from start to finish today.. It's depressing

And radiohead's Street spirit(fade out) is depressing too.

I don't want to make a big list as the starting post.. I'll add more stuff later.


Try to stay away from the "I CUT MY WRISTS AND BLACK MY EYEYSSSSS" stuff It's not sad, it's shitty music.

I mean, I wouldn't know. I generally listen to angry music. Probably the "saddest" song in my playlist is Mudvayne's Happy. I know.

Alright, a lot of decent suggestions were made in Jenny's thread, so I'll do my best to give you some new stuff.

You should really check out anything Sigur Rós, specifically the songs Saeglopur and Njosnavelin (Njosnavelin is also called The Nothing Song). They seem like very depressing songs to me.

Hurt by Johnny Cash is always amazing. Most depressing song I've ever heard.

Lux Aeterna by the Kronos Quartet is a good one. It's actually the theme song from Requiem for a Dream:

If you liked the cynical depression of The Wall, try Animals or The Final Cut (both PF albums).

Gone Away by the Offspring always depresses me, but then again, my friend's band played it at his funeral, so it's always been rather emotional for me.

You could also try NIN - Every Day Is Exactly The Same. I don't know much else... I don't really like depressing music. There are some other Radiohead songs similar to Street Spirit (Fade Out) if you look for them though.

In the Roadrunner United Cd the Singer of Opeth sings a song about Solitude called "Roads"

Its a nice calm song but can be depressing if you want it to be.
