A Money Map is a scenario where you recieve a constant more than enough ammount of resources, thus allowing you to explore almost everything StarCraft has to offer. However, most people tend to simply mass units, and by doing so giving them the bad reputation they have. In opposition to non-money maps, where what you do regarding the resource collection is most important, and where you only win if you gather resources well, rather than being the one who gathers the most.

Websters definition: "A map where a player recieves a large sum of money at once or regularly in much larger quantities than regular melee maps." (I've played versions where you automatically get the money instead of mining, or just start with a shitload)

StarCraft's definition: "A disgrace to the map making community; n00bshit."

:p

I need a good definition of a money map.

All I got right now is:
Money Map - A scenario where
If you use 200 population all to mine the resources around your starting base, they will still be mining after an hour.*

A money map is a custom-made map that 8usually has 8 sides, a core mineral cluster, and two or more rows of vespine deposits to harvest gas from. The core mineral cluster can 50 or more workers mining minerals from it. Most money maps have this mineral cluster positioned right next to your command center, making minerals flow into your resource pool very quickly. There are no cliffs and no doodads. Due to the incredible amount of resources you start by, expanding is no longer needed in these kinds of maps. This sets them apart from standard maps because standad maps require expansion to keep a players econony going at a steady rate, whereas a money map player can simply stay at his main location and harvest as much as his needs require. Fundamentally, games that are played on moneymaps are easier and more fast-pased then a normal game that is being played on a map created by Blizzard. Although moneymaps tend to lack detail on the map; whether it be decorations, doodads, or any other miscellaneous items. This most likely allows players to amass huge armies with minimal lag.

You're all wrong. It's any map that has more than 1500 per mineral patch and 5000 per vespene geyser.

Of course, there are some discrepencies with maps that have like 3 patches with 2500 minerals.

I reckon that's the most basic definition.

I'd say their definitions are more accurate, Renzokuken, because there are too many faults with yours. Bloodbath, for example, is nowhere near deserving of the money map title.
