what is deadly strike and how does it work?

deadly strike is the chance to do double damage each hit. it works the same is critical strike. critical strike from weapon mastery say 21% and deadly strike from highlords 33% would not make 54% contrary to popular belief. There is a formula of how they are averaged together but i dont know it off hand.

Deadly Strike
This is a chance of doing double damage. This bonus is applied after skills such as Critical Strike and any other damage bonuses. Critical Strike (CS) and Deadly Strike (DS) exclude each other.

If you have a 33% Deadly Strike item, and 68% Critical Strike Skill the complete chance to get double damage is:

=CS + (DS/100)*(100-CS)
=68% + (33/100)*32%
=68% + 10.56%
=78.56%

It is possible to get up to 100% chance for Deadly Strike. Anything above 100% is discarded.

Note the formula is NOT talking about 2 DS items, its talking about 1 ds and the Critical Strike Skill. Thus 2 ds items should stack ie 33% + 21% should be 54%

You can use search on just about any diablo forum there is and get all that info, why should i waste my time with every minor detail of what it is.
I wonder if that necro in his avatar is his anyways, you would think that a player with a pimped out necro, would have played enough to know about all aspects of the game, or at least know where to get the information. Unless its ebayed or given to him. I'm not trying to be a dick but why cant people use search? they can make an avatar, a sig, post 1000 comments a day, but cant use 'search' to get the information they are looking for.

kekekeke, you must be a godly necro player then to have accumulated all that stuff and made a necro w/o making any other char except maybe a sorc, because every other char takes full advantage of deadly strike its only like the most important physical damage trate for all classes. however if you must ask then i gues sthe newbie section is a good spot for you ^^;hukhuk

Its only really used on pallies and barbs, and maybe necros for Uber D and uber(chaos) tristram its RARELY used in baal runs, but occasionaly you may find someone using it.

Deadly strike is used for PvP mainly to get as much physical damage as possible. With the PvP penalty and damage reduce, bone armor and energy shield physical damage is easily mitigated. Deadly Strike makes the hits you do get in count by doubleing the damage you normally would have. It is also benificial for PvM but not as much as crushing blow is for PvM. If you make a physical damage character and you like to pvp get as much as possible, add in OW and CB and you will have a mean little toon
