With the events of the past few weeks many people have been raising the issue of gun rights, gun control and taking away everyone's guns and ammo. Just like the NRA representive said on CNN the other day "...you will never take our guns and ammo..."

I certainly agree with this man. Just because some psycho son-of-a-bitch gets a gun and kills people shouldn't mean that you should punish all the sportsmen and hunters who worked hard for their weapons.

I personally have 3 weapons. A 12 guage Remington 870 Express Magnum pump shotgun, a 20 guage Remington 870 Express Magnum pump shotgun, and a Marlin .22 semi-automatic LR. No one will ever take them from me unless they pry them from my cold dead hands. No one. I don't care what kind of stupid law they pass that says that you cannot have a weapon; I will not give them up.

I have the weapons for many reasons. For one the area I live in is known to have a severe drug problem. Less then a mile down the road from me, there are several drug houses and drug dealers. Prostitutes also roam the area. These people have been known to cause everyone in the area problems. The other day one of them(drug dealer or front man) tried to get into my sister's car while she was stopped in the median while trying to cross the road that leads to ours. They have done many other things to us that i don't have the time or the energy to type. I feel that I need protection from these people so I have weapons. Two I like to hunt. Plain and simple.

When I turn 21, I plan to go shopping for a sidearm and I will get a concealed weapon permit.

Please post your opinions of gun control and why you think there should be more or less etc.

Once again I have the utmost respect for our goverment (U.S.), but they will never get me to give up my weapons.

This sniper attack has risen a very large problem for the government. These snipers managed to kill 10 people and the police were virtually powerless to stop them. I read this morning that they think they caught them, but it still took them long enough. If these men had wanted to, they could have easily killed more than 10 people. They could have probably killed 2-3 per scene if they wanted. Imagine for a second that 20 snipers spread out accross the USA and began doing what these two guys did. We'd have hundreds of people dead and no one would want to go outside. The sad thing is, this will probably happen. Why? Cause guns are easy to get and gun/sniper training is easy to get. Osama managed to get hundreds of people together in his alqaeda network and i'm sure he could get several snipers together as well. The thing about this sniper was the fact that he put fear into america. WTC was horrible, but it didn't scare americans the way that having a sniper around would... WTC was more of a shock, where as if osama started getting snipers and uniting them around the USA, everyone would be scared and it would be an ongoing fear until all 20 or so snipers were stopped.

Anyways, this being said, I think there needs to be more strict laws on owning guns. I think people need to have been citizens of the country for a long time before they are even considered. I think that people need to have a good history and good work records and such. I don't think it should be handled by paperwork. I also think that buying ammo should require a valid gun license (does it already? not sure of the laws in usa)... but I know that out here you can guy ammo from lots of places. I understand your point of view, baraka, but you have to admit that this recent sniper attack has shown the potential of what one person can do... and the war on terrorism is a war that U.S.A. can't win while handing out guns at the same time. It will definately be interesting to see how the government handles all this...

Also, you might want to consider changing the poll around next time to include a neutral option. I'm not going to vote on this poll, because I don't support the NRA... but I also don't hate them.

I should have put: No! I do not support the NRA! and No! I hate the NRA. I do think that there should be stricter laws but just dont don't take my weapons away. To get a weapon in the U.S. you must do a backround check. When I bought my weapons from Wal-Mart, there was a $5 non-refundable charge for a backround check. They called the FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) and in less than 10 seconds it was confirmed that I had no criminal history and I was approved for the purchase of the weapons. You must be 16 or older to buy a b.b./pellet gun. You must be 18 or older to buy a shotgun or a rifle and the ammunition used in it. You must 21 or older to buy a sidearm or the ammunition used in it. The laws that I propose should be along the lines of if you have been convicted of a violent crime or a felony of any kind, you should not be able to purchase a weapon (ie battery, assault). You should also be required to take safety courses. On the other hand I think that these laws would just be more of a hassle to the law abiding citizens. I think all they would do is make keep good hard working, honest people from getting a weapon. If you want a weapon bad enough, you can get one (illegally). Right now I could go right down the road and get any kind of weapon that I could want. So in short, if a psycho son-of-a-bitch really wanted to cause trouble, there is nothing that can stop them. It's like Chris Rock once said in 'Money Talks'. He said: "Guns don't kill people. Stupid mother ****ers with guns kill people."

I hate the NRA.The NRA is against Any type of gun legislation. It doesnt matter what the legislation is, even if its gonna SAVE LIVES, they are against it. The NRA is against Balistic Fingerprinting for no apparent reason. Balistic Fingerprinting can save lives, can catch criminals, can help solve cases, the NRA just acts ignorant and ignores the facts. The NRA is just a bunch of Fanatics.

Also, Charlton Heston is a RACIST (watch the documentary "bowling for columbine" and you'll know why)

Calm the fuck down. He said "owning" a gun, not killing people.
Yes, the NRA is a bit stupid sometimes. I don't support them, but I support our right to own guns. And tougher gun laws would not stop criminals from owning guns. It would stop law abiding citizens from owning guns.
