Lately, ive been seeing so many maps having custom unit portaits and custom unit models that i've been wanting to do the same on my maps. This one im working on is a remake of Diablo II: LOD and it would be so awesome if i could get my own custom unit portraits and models....can anyone here tell me what programs i need, wat steps to take and all that? If you can hook me up....ill be forever thankful. THANKS Y'all!!!!

portraits are the same as models.

To do models, you will need a model editing program, and after that it's exactly like skins (just insert the file into the importer, and replace the path with the path of the original unit's .mdx file)

Sadly though, the file you need to edit .mdx/.mdl files, requires you to own 3DS MAX, (3D Studios Max) which costs on average 1000+, you may want to check with your high school if you can get it for less, or in college/university it is sometimes given out for free.

You dont need 3d max to work milkshape. they r 2 different programs. I will see if i could find an importer for w3 models, and no, you need a special modelig program to edit models form tft. I wish you didn't though. it would be great if it came with the WE

There are programs though (free ones) that convert from .mdx/.mdl to .obj, which can be opened in milkshape i believe.
