CPU Usage?

For some reason, my computer is using 100% of the CPU even when I don't have any applications open, so that whenever I try to do anything, it takes forever. In the event that I actually get something working, it usually stops responding after a little while. I'm pretty sure it's not adware/spyware since I've already scanned for all of that stuff....

Anyway, I'm not very good with computers, so if anyone knows how I can fix this, please help me ;_;

My mind screams 'keylogger' and 'trojan'.....

I believe you are using XP, so go to Start > Run > enter taskmgr > OK > Processes > throw us a screenie.

This is a screen of the task manager when I don't have any applications open. It seems like it's w32usb2.exe (whatever that is...) that's using up the CPU, but it varies sometimes (e.g. sometimes it will be svchost.exe that's taking it up). I really have no idea what any of this stuff is, so...yeah.

I suggest you format and start all over with

- New browser
- All Service Packs and security updates
- Firewall, best anti-virus and a brain
- Less interest in porn

w32usb2.exe

you have a virus. Boot into safe mode and remove the registry entries.

Also use antivirus and spybot search and destroy and adware in safe mode.
Thanks for the help, but I don't know how to boot into safe mode and remove the registry entries :/ (Sorry...I'm used to using a Mac.) I've already run Spybot and Ad-Aware multiple times.

Thanks for the productive comments.

Wow... that doesn't look good.

Do this: click START > RUN and enter MSCONFIG in the prompt. Click the Startup tab, click Disable All. Click the Services tab, check "Hide All Microsoft Services" and click Disable All there as well. That will uh... make things a bit better. If you really want to get rid of that junk, get Bullguard and use its virus scan. It should be able to detect and get rid of most of the problems on your computer.

Woah, i dont know if i would even bother using virus scan with that, I would think you'll be probably best off formatting your computer and starting off fresh.

Yeah, it is a rather serious problem, but its worth the shot to remove adware and spyware, try that first, then we'll talk about reformat.

Restart your computer and after your first BIOS screen, keep hitting F8 until you get a menu (if the Windows logo pops up, restart and try again, hitting F8 earlier), and select Safe Mode.

I wasn't kidding, but you don't seen to get it anyway. Format the ****ing thing, it's like ****ing comp-cancer, alright.

And it's your choice to not do anything better in the future. It's not like virii and spyware are unstoppable mighty creatures from above, must people are just too ****ing stupid to protect themselves accordingly, it's a shame.
