After about 1-3 hours of leaving my computer on (while I go to school, not while I'm actually on it) my computer freezes.

When I come home, the computer is sorta frozen.
The screen is sort of on, but like the backlight isn't. It's impossible to see anything. On top of that, the mouse won't move. I have to hold the power button on for 8 seconds to turn the computer off, then I press it again to restart it.

I wouldn't mine so much except I don't find very much stuff botting. Is there a fix I can download, or should I just reinstall everything?
I attached a ScreenShot of my power settings, please help if you can.

I'm runing a Sony Vaio Laptop, not sure type/model.

No, it doesn't crash when I play Diablo 2 (not bot, I play).

I disabled screensaver. I'll try re-enabling it and see if it works.

PS, I was away for a few days sorry for bump.

Turn off all error reporting?

There are two buttons:

Disable error reporting

Enable error reporting

It is currently on enabled. I will turn it to disable.

Should I have the box under it checked: But notify me when a critical error occurs.

Your problem: Windows XP. That's the problem!

Anyhow, I Run Windows ME and I 'rarely' get that problem.

Windows XP is more secure then windows ME, but let's not argue over that.

The fact is, I'm not going to go out and spend $100 to downgrade to Windows ME. Anyway, I know LOTS of people who run windows me and who don't get this problem.

Anyway, I scanned my entire hard drive and found 4 viruses.

3 of them were the same on... called like worm_Britney_game.bh or something like that.

I can't remember the fourth one. Anyway, I deleted them, tonight I'll run the bot and see what happends.

I have a sony vaio, and I never had this problem. But instead of leaving it on just wasting energy, put the computer under standby. That didn't help right?

Try defragging maybe. I fix alot of problems just by doing that. Or loose IDE cables or video card.

Start - All Programs - Accesories - System Tools.. First you want to do disk cleanup to get rid of all your temporary internet files. then you defrag.

what's standyby? I think you do start-shut down-standby. I'll try that, does it still leave the computer on and let it do its functions.

I'll try defragging in a while. Do I lose any files, and how long does it take? I have a 20 gb hard drive w/ about 17gb used in case you're wondering.

No defraging wont make you lose files. But be carefull start defrag when you go to sleep or something it takes a while. It takes all your files in your computer and syncronizes them so they can be used in the optimum level.
