I'm planning on making a Chess game on StarCraft. I don't know exactly how I would make it, since I'm in my design stages. Can anyone give me suggestions/ideas on how this would be achieved? Thanks.

You could make the board with beacons. It would probably be a pretty easy map to make. A good feature would be to get GUEdit or SCM Toolkit to make the players black and white. You will have to make the players allies so they don't attack each other. Then have a trigger like. If Player 1 has 1 guy here, then Player 2 brings one guy to that place, Kill Player 1's guy.

Make the board like Zone Control (no edges but checkered). It'd take alot of triggers. But they'd have to be allied, for no shooting.

Sorry to double post. But beacons would be too bright to your eye. So the Zone Control i think. would be better.

Chess already exists. Whoever bothered to make it did a good job too :)

Yeah I already got the part where I change the player colors. And I know someone made a Chess game, but I wanted to make one also. Should I make a Checkers game instead? I think It'll be easier :D

I say go for it, the experience alone will be worth it.
But, if your not sure which to make, whay not make a whole new type of your own.
Your own rules, your own sets of moves, use many games, and combine what you feel are their best attributes.
While your at it, why not make it for 4 players.

by zone control thingy, do you mean like square terrain? With ISOM. If so, good idea. If not, i don't know what you're talking about.

There is already a sc chess game out. I had a copy before the computer crashed. It would play just like chess where you had to highlight a unit with another unit and move it around the map. The map would stop you if you moved the wrong way. The only and major problem with that map is the incredibly long time it took for the comp to decide a "checkmate." There were so many triggers going on that the game slowed to a halt. Don't make the same mistake.

You are I think you shouldnt its a waste of time.
Some one made a chess game for usm and wasnt popular at all
I only played once... and it wasnt that good
