Ok, I've just run into a big problem that I never took into play. I figured I'd just be upgrading my Dell, but since I've decided to build a whole new computer, I'm without an OS. I have a disc that came with my comp, but it says for distribution with a new Dell PC only. Can I use that disc, or will I have to buy a whole new OS box. Really expensive...

Wow. It only works with Dell mobos only.

The best way to get an OS is from mIRC,... not the easiest though.

Windows Xp Home cost $100 retail. (i get my stuff bootlegged, so i can't comment much)

Try finding people with a OS cd for you to borrow. IF you can't suceed, buying one might be your only option.

Show me a link, because i am looking forward to buying a heavy harddrive too for a cheap price.
Actually, Fry's Electronics or Outpost.com had these on sale.

160GB Seagate for $60 is gone now, though. Also, that might have been Western Digital :

It must have been for a limited time. $60 is way too good. Even $80 is a good deal.

I couldn't really find much info on it, however. Since it's a brand unheard before, it might not perform as good as the top company's memory like Corsair, Kingston, etc.

Even though Corsair's PC3200 are quite pricey, they do very well in benchmarks. If i could find it, there was an article of where Corsair's PC3200 beats a Generic Brand's PC4000.

Dude, you need to get AIM i wanna talk to you on it =)

As for the Corsair's PC3200, you would need to overclock pretty high to reach a Generic Brand's PC4000.. Although a Corsair would perform better, it wouldnt be able to equal up to a high overclock.

True it is faster, but if i can recall, the Generic Brand's PC4000 had a higher latency and timing, thus it loses to the better Corsair PC3200, especially in gaming performance.

Yeah, I see what you mean. So, if you aint gonna overclock super high, go for the Corsair.

Actually, you misunderstand. The Corsair just have better performance because of it's lower timings.

Both are good for overclocking your cpu, however. If you have a Pentium 4, the PC4000's bus speed will be good for your CPU's fsb. But the quality of the ram is what makes it last longer.
