www.pricewatch.com its the best way to get a cheap computer, building one. buy the parts you specificly need for what you need to do, whats this computer for? My friend made a nice gaming machine with an ATI radion 9800 pro amd althon 1900+ 1gb ram ect for 700 usd.

Best thign to do is to go around your town and look for a place that sales hardware. PIck out what parts you want for your computer, would cost around 600-800.00usd... And these computers that you home build can be better then the ones you buy for 1.6k from Gateway or Dell... So, there...

I think the point is is that he doesn't want to build it because he's scared he will screw something up...

Go to http://www.tigerdirect.com and look into their tiger machines. They sound rather decent and they have warantees...I've never had anyone ask me to help them with one, so I can't vouche for their reliability, but thats just another option.

I dont think Tigerdirect would be the best option. Their prices on full machines aren't great (not terrible by any means...) I would check out newegg.com they have absolutely wonderful tech support, fast and (usually depending on the item) free shipping. And if you aren't into heavy gaming and dont need a great computer, I would just go Dell.

Newegg, if not, build one. Building one uses a HELL of a lot less money for a better computer. Ive got all my parts picked out for about $600, so just talk to me if you want one, ive been looking around for parts for ages. I know you might not want to build it, but if you do, talk to me.

Price: $659.98

I kind of wanted 512 mb of ram though. The thing won't let me customize that.

Celeron Processor :/ if you dont mind spending 700-800 for a kickass alien-ware look-alike computer then go here, www.cyberpower.com you can custom-mod it but the already built one iis good. I prefer here because its cheaper then www.alienware.com

mm, yeah, a Celeron might not do the trick, especially since a Celeron is running at 2.6GHz. Youll want that 512mb later, believe me. Ill look around.

Alienware is way overpriced..
