Card Focus: Traumatize

L

Laharl

Aaah, Traumatize. One of the weaker rated mill decks. For the price of 3BB it will move the top half of your opponent's deck to the grave. That' right. The. top. Half. What do you do once it's there? Mill more, and why not kick them with a Haunting Echoes while you're at it? This would cripple any deck except for if your opponent happens to have a Feldon's Cane already in play to save his deck.

It is only useful unless you are playing with a mill deck, or you want to bash your opponent by luck.

And Haunting Echoes is only good late game, and when your opponent isn't using a deck of unique cards.

It is amazing just how "milling" has all evolved from the Millstone.

Haha, as costly as it is to use, Tower of Murmurs is pretty hardass for a mill deck.

4 Mana isn't that bad, considering it does 4x more damage than the Millstone.

But yeah, Feldon's Cane would totally screw over any Milldeck if you think about it. But it only restores cards in the graveyard. You can't restore the cards lost to things like Haunting Echoes or effects that remove cards from the game.

4 to play. Its tap effect that DOES the damage costs 8 and you have to tap it. There are ways to make that a little less daunting to use, but even as is...10 cards straight off the top is hardcore.

Late game? It's good after you cast traumatize. And if your deck has good mana acceleration, you can play traumatize pretty early. Hell, you can play it on turn five even without any kind of mana acceleration.

Also, no one's going to build a deck with only one of each card. And no one's going to sideboard a feldon's cane on the offchance someone plays this combo.

Feldon's Cane only restores cards in your graveyard, not if they are removed.

And I obviously know not a lot of people would even consider having one of a kind.

The only way you can save yourself from the torment of Haunting Echoes is if you play Feldon's the moment he uses Traumatize and before he plays Echoes. All your cards restored, no cards to destroy.

same differnce..

and no counterspell shouldn't be restricted or banned. Its blue's main tool. Without counterspell blue would not hold a place in the maingame. You just haft to learn to adapt to a blue player. Thats how you tweak your deck. If you weakness is blue then have some blue control. Otherwise theres no point playing your deck seriously

Well, you should usually build your deck so it can counter and be ready for anything your enemy sends at you.
