I'm working on a new RPG map, hopefully it's going to be one of those great ones like Marine Special Forces and all that.

Anyway, I want to keep it original with as few different versions out there. I hate it when I have like 15 different rigged versions of the same map.

I have GUEdit, however when I protect the map and go to test it out, it says "The Selected Scenario is not Valid". So I have a protected, unplayable map.

I have backups of it, so my work isn't lost, however I'm very frustrated. I really want to do some beta runs at this point, so it's rather frustrating. Anyone feel like troubleshooting this?

I do have Java Runtime Environment 1.2.

Maybe the file termination isn't the right one?

But I doubt you didnt checked it.

I'm using version 3.6 Alpha of GUEdit, and yes, I've been testing it out on my own on b.net using the original file. The protected file is totally unusable however.

Could it possibly be something as simple as I need to save it in a different directory, or GUEdit needs to be in the StarCraft directory?

I have StarCraft in C:\Games\StarCraft
and GUEDit in C:\Games\GUEdit

The subfolder mpq2k is in that directory, and I'm operating on Windows XP Home.

I'm using SC X-Tra Editor for my map editor as well.

Wing_0, if you're not sure what's being discussed in a thread, feel free to make one asking what it is if you don't know, however this is a thread for tech support.

The preconfigured folder for StarCraft is Program Files, I think. Perhaps the program can't find it on Program Files cuz it is on Games.

Try it out.

After you protect the map, do you save it? And if so, you must give it a new name and add ".scm/.scx" at the end of the name.

Yeah, I am adding .scx to the end of the filename when I save it, so it's not that CerebralChain. Thanks for the idea though.

TrongaMonga, I don't think that's the problem. The applications runs fine even if it's on my desktop... I just wasn't sure if it needed other hash files in the same directory.

Crookedfoot... I may take you up on that offer, however I'll be sure to send it to you only when major changes have been made as I near completion of it. Also, where is your copy of GUEdit installed to?

There is a Sticky concerning the utility at the top of this UMS forum, I always assumed you were the one who made it Sticky.

Download and operating instruction in the link from SCAG, additional instructions are my doing.

Just in case, I checked their site,,, it was temporarily down from eccessive bandwidth.
Sound familiar?
If they stay that way, I have a zipped copy, I can get to you.

It's really not hard to get going, as long as you don't mind the temporary un-install, and re-install of SC.
IM me if you go that route, and have problems, I'll help if I can.

Yeah, I did sticky it, but like you said, it was down the other day when I tried to download it.

I actually do have a problem with un-installing and re-installing starcraft as I don't have my original SC CD anymore and am trying to avoid buying another. I have my BW CD, which lets me play Original and BW on multiplayer, which I'm totally cool with. Rar, didn't really want to have to buy another copy, but I guess another CD Key could mean another bot to follow me around... or sell. Mwahahahahaha.

I find it truly amazing how many people lose their CD Key.

Oh well,,, stuff happens.

The original offer still stands, when you get your map fininshed let me know, we can do a transfer, and I'll do a protect for you if you wish, and get it right back to you.
