In my RPG (which you may have heard of by now with all the posts ive made about it), I want to be able to create a Floor Gun Trap for a player when he/she does something. I want to know if this script will work if I set it up properly. Create 1 Floor Gun Turret for Player 1 at location trap. Can It work?

If I'm right about how the traps work, you can originally give them to a neutral player, and later give them to a specific player with the use of a "GIVE" trigger. Activated by entering a location, or some other switch or whatever.

Or you could set the ownership of a trap during the making of the map.

But as far as creating a trap at a location, I think that is a No.

To the best of my knowledge, I think they are a part of the map, from the beginning just like the trees in a jungle map.

But trees don't usually shoot you, or at least not in my world they don't.

If I'm wrong about all this somebody correct me, I haven't used the Installation tile set much, let alone the traps.

Yes, you can create a floor gun trap for a player.

Just not with normal Staredit.

Instead, use a downloaded editor like SCEP2 or Emerald Staredit to place the floor gun trap as a unit instead of a doodad. With these editors, floor gun traps, doors, and other doodads that are normally only available on the Installation terran have editable stats and can be placed as any other unit. That way, you can also create them with triggers.

I am using SCEP 2. I have it like this: When player 1 moves marine to (destination), create 1 floor gun trap at location. It doesnt work. I will however, try the 'Give command'. This will limit the amount of gun traps one can have though...

Ok, I was able to give a doodad to another player..but its kind of useless unless I can move them, but that goes in the same category as creating them. I think I will delete a player and make a neutral computer player with just gun turrets. Then you will be able to gain control of them when you go over them and buy it.

Ah, I see. I made a quick map to test it and found the same problem, so I guess they can't be created with triggers. I also tried to move them with triggers but that didn't work either.
