I could have put this in the design forum, but I think not many people are visiting that place nowadays.

I'm contemplating on buying a Mac laptop that's suited for graphic design (I'm in fashion and most people in the veteran classes and teachers tend to use Apple laptops - and I'll end up using Mac eventually anyway and what better than to start now).

I don't know much about Apple in the laptop section, but I think I should be able to get some guidelines from some users here before I take the plunge.

If you press CTRL+ALT+COMMAND+8 you invert the colours. Do that next time Macs are on display in a shop, most of the time they don't know how to revert the colours.

i went to a technical high school for interactive media and that shit, and all we used were G4's...we were issued a macbook as well and i fell in love with macs ever since

in my experience they perform smoother/better during most of the things you'll be doing (im using a $3000 gaming laptop atm and it doesn't run that smooth)

it'll take a little getting used to, but i'd say you dont have anything to worry about,

in terms of processing power/graphics sure, my laptop outperforms...but im speaking more on the OS integrity and day to day usability of OS X...plus macs are down right more fun

Unix is scary though.

Anyways if you want a laptop that will really be able to help with Graphic Design you might go for the "Mac Book Pro" which start around $2,000 US. You could get the lower end "Macbook". I think the main difference being screen size and graphics card.

I did my research yesterday at the stores. Looks like I may end up with a Macbook Pro afterall. It's not just screen size, it's the different components that make the Pro run more smoothly compared to the pre-Pro.

Renzo: lol. I haven't tried because I forgot the combo...will probably do that later though. Haha.
