For $1000, This is a good (BLACK) Intel Setup

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Processor - Intel Pentium 4 2.8C or 3.0C (Northwood) // $181

Motherboard - Abit AI7 i865 Chipset // $103

Hard Drive - WD Raptor 74GB 10,000 RPM // $181 (or 250GB 7200rpm)

Ram - Corsair XMS 512 DDR PC3200 w/ heatsprd // $123 (X2 = $246)

Video Card - Saphire Radeon 9800 Pro $198 (best bang for buck)

Floppy Drive - Nec Floppy (for formatting) // $10.99

DVD-RW Drive - Nec 8x DVD-RW 2510A // $79.99

VGA - Arctic VGA Silencer // $15.99

Case - Antec Piano Black "Sonata" 380W Antec True Power with 1x 120mm fan // $99.00

Keyboard - Black Logitech Internet Keyboard - $17.00

Mouse - Microsoft Intelli Optical Black and White - $24.00

Heatsink - Thermaltake SP-94 $62

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This totals up to about $1036 dollars, but there is so much configuration you can do. You can switch keyboard/mouse or maybe not need it. If you don't plan on overclocking you can just get a 2.4C. You have to configure alot of things. I can also make an AMD setup. Do you have any resuable parts? do you need a monitor? This build assumes you already have one.
