I'm a little confused about what exactly a bot does. I know that it's used on b.net chat, but what exactly do they do?

it's good for clans like logging, controlling your channel and stuff. like u can kick fags out of ur chan or ban and stuff....it's like IRC kinda.

how can i use it? i tried the ultimate bot but since i installed it i lagged like hell and when i uninstalled it everything returned to normal

well if u want it on even when ur playing, use a diff. comp

I have used same comp to play and load over 40 bots. By the way, Ultimate Bot no longer works in private channels unless you get BG3, http://www.ultimatebot.com
