Blue screen on D2 startup

k, this is a big pissoff, because of it i havent been on D2 for like a month. When i run D2 (no mater how i run it apart from a crack) i get a bluesreen with "error occured at..... and alot of numbers. i cant check right now cause of the fact that when it happens i have to reboot.

If i run D2 from a crack (i have a legit CD and key but sometimes my mum hides the CD so its handy to have) i get in fine then when i try to connect it says cant detect version number.

When i try to put on the latest patch, it all goes fine then when u get to the bit with show detail or Ok, if i click ok, i get another blue screen.

This only happens on win98 (not SE) i installed WinXP and it worked fine. Then u ask me "y i do not keep XP" and the answer is that i have a shitty 233mhz, which runs XP really crappy. and i only got a 2 gig HDD and XP is a big OS and once i put on office and stuff i get low disk space and it screws it self.

so after XP i formated and went back to 98 (which im on now) u would think that a format would fix this little problem, but no avail. after several reinstalls it no work. i run D2 off a 20GB slave (dont ask why i have the bigger drive as a slave) which i am planning to partition and put XP on, but at the moment my mate with XP, and the partition program is moving house and has lost his CDs

Please help me, i am desperate

she doesn't want you to play? (maybe SHE's sabotaging your computer )

Welll it is because WIN98 has a whole bunch of problems and WinXP has a crash guard on it.

Try reinstalling it.

When I had the CIH or CHI Virus (can't remember ) I use to get the Blue Screen on every D2 startup. From what I know it directly infects all the .exes in your computer you start up

thx Seks, that sounds like the problem considering i have not a single bit of anti virus software and ive been on the net for 14 months. i had to get somthing eventually.

and i reinstalled D2X like 7 times with no avail.

If sumone could give me a good buring program for just making Data CDs i would be very happy, cause for sum reason i cant install nero, i get an illeagle opperation everytime i try. And this is from the CD version. Casue then i could format both harddisks, which should get rid of it, hopefully.

i did by the game from the store for starters, and i am buying a new computer, its just that 2k isnt that easy to come by, i figure ill have it by end of january/febuary, then ill be a happy chappy
